Robert Downey Jr. rocked quite the dapper look while hitting the red carpet at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards.

The 58-year-old actor hit the red carpet with his wife of 19 years and his producing partner Susan Downey at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

Just after hitting the red carpet, Downey won Best Supporting Actor for his work in Oppenheimer, after his big win at the Golden Globes.

Downey Jr. beat out Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction), Robert De Niro (Killers of the Flower Moon), Ryan Gosling (Barbie), Charles Melton (May December) and Mark Ruffalo (Poor Things) as the Critics Choice winner.

He first acknowledged fellow nominee Sterling K. Brown, adding, ‘I think Bob, Ryan, Charles and mark will welcome sterling K. To the mix. Another challenger has entered the octagon.’

He continued, ‘I was thinking this morning, I love critics It’s all I think about — critics choice association. They give me such beautiful feedback, really,’ he said to laughter from the crowd. 

‘Just so many great moments and some of it so poet I can. –Poetic. I want to share some of their thoughts with you over the years. First one is kind of like haiku,’ he said. 

‘Sloppy, messy and lazy. Next one metaphoric, like Pee Wee Herman emerging from a coma. This one from a britt, a puzzling waste of talent,’ he continued as the crowd laughed throughout.

‘And lastly in this one, lingered, amusing as a bed lock fart,’ he added, before acknowleding his ‘Oppenhomies.”

‘Yeah, I want to say to my homeys, everyday of filming was like having my ego’s a** handed to me at the door,’ he said.

‘It couldn’t happen to nicer guy. For that I got to thank Chris and Emma and Cillian. My Brit sister Emily Blunt. My scene partner. Thank you Universal,’ he said. 

I want to say, I have a 24-hour running commentary. It’s like Siskel and Ebert. Susan Downey and my publicist. I hope they I think did better this time. I’ll hear about it,’ he concluded.

The 29th Critics Choice Awards take place at the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport in Santa Monica, California on Sunday.

They honor the finest achievements in both filmmaking and television programming over the year of 2023.

Comedian Chelsea Handler serves as host for the vent which broadcasts live on The CW on Sunday.

Barbie led this year’s film contenders, earning a whopping 18 nominations overall. 

In addition to Best Picture, Best Comedy, and Best Hair and Makeup nods, the film racked up several acting nominations including Best Actress for Margot Robbie, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling and Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera.
