Rob Schneider dropped a major bombshell about the sequel to Adam Sandler’s hit 1996 film Happy Gilmore.
The actor, 60, jokingly told Channel Seven’s Sunrise, that he will be playing the role of the main character, rather than Adam.
During the interview, the breakfast show’s host Matt Shirvington asked Rob: ‘Happy Gilmore 2 is happening. Are you gonna be in it?’
‘Yes, I will be playing Happy Gilmore. Not Adam ,’ Rob responded before adding: ‘No I’m just kidding’.
Rob also revealed how Adam called him from Italy and told him he was considering a sequel to the iconic film.

‘What made him want to do it?’ Matt asked.
‘I just think he just can’t stop making movies. He doesn’t know what else to do with his life,’ Rob, who is currently touring Australia with his comedy show, said.
‘But I think after all these years, it seems like it would be, you know, it would be good timing.’
Drew Barrymore confirmed in April that Happy Gilmore 2 is in the works, revealing that Adam had written a sequel to the sports comedy.
Discussing the subject in a preview clip on her talk show, Drew explained how she had texted her Fifty First Dates co-star, 57, to find out if it he had written a new screenplay.

The actress said: ‘Are you kidding me? I want it. I need it and I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison.
‘And then I sent Sandler a video of that and then he sent me another video back and I’m waiting to see if he’s confirming about the Happy Gilmore 2 script…
‘Because actor Christopher McDonald, who was Shooter McGavin, the bad guy. He was in the original film… he claims that Adam recently showed him a copy of the first draft to the sequel of Happy Gilmore.
‘And so I’m waiting to find out if Christopher McDonald is correct, which I’m not doubting him. I’m a proper journalist, I sent him a picture of all of us [at the show].’
The clip then jumped and rejoined Drew as she looked at her phone and excitedly announced: ‘Well, this just in. I have breaking news. So I’ll just say this from my source that it is in process… So there is a process and that process is in process.’
