Stand Up for Heroes was launched in 2007, and has has raised over ‘$70 million to date to help all veterans and military families have successful futures.’

According to the organization’s website, the event ‘is one of New York’s most anticipated nights of hope, healing and laughter, honoring our nation’s injured veterans and their families.’

Over the years, it has been held at the Beacon Theater, the Theater at Madison Square Garden, and most recently, David Geffen Hall.

Last month, Wilson celebrated her birthday, alongside husband, Tom Hanks, who turned 67 in July.

Upon marking his big day, she penned a heartfelt birthday tribute, which read: ‘Happy Birthday to this man who is my lover, my best friend, my family, the father of my children.’
