On Wednesday though, Rita decided to share a small snippet from her big day about the couple’s choice of music and what they did after tying the knot.

In the photo, the singer and actress donned an all white ensemble and sang passionately into a microphone, alongside the entertainer.

Explaining the backstory, Rita said: ‘But you know what was crazy about this moment? It was a surprise. I didn’t ask for this.

‘There was no plan, I got married off the cuff and it was so much fun. Then we were like oh now what? So we just kind of booked out a hotel and had a little party.

She joked: ‘The first song he sang was I’m Caught In A Trap. I was like “Is that how we wanted to start, do you know what I mean?” So I trapped my husband is what they’re saying.’

The actress then went on to reveal that comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish, 44, was in attendance at the post-wedding bash, who is pals with the singer.

Rita revealed: ‘Tiffany Haddish was there as well who is a great friend of mine, and she was going “Well, I guess we’re doing this then!”‘

Rita and Taika, 48, tied the knot back in August 2022, but didn’t confirm their nuptials until their first anniversary last year.

It was an impromptu ceremony at their home in Los Angeles that they planned in just two weeks, after she popped the question during a trip to Palm Springs.

The Rise Of Red, is a spin-off of the Descendants film trilogy, with Rita starring as the mother of one of the film’s leads.

The Queen of Hearts’ daughter Red (Kylie Cantrall) joins forces with Chloe (Malia Baker), the daughter of Cinderella and King (née Prince) Charming, as they use the White Rabbit’s pocket watch to travel in time to avoid a coup in their fantasy kingdom.

Rita’s character has been featured in numerous adaptations of Carroll’s Alice stories, though two of the most famous versions were from the 1951 animated Disney adaptation, Alice In Wonderland, which was voiced by Verna Felton.

The character was also brought to life by Helena Bonham Carter in her then-partner Tim Burton’s 2010 live-action version of Alice In Wonderland.

The new Descendants film features another musical star, Brandy Norwood, who is reprising her role from Disney’s TV musical adaptation of Cinderella, which aired on ABC in 1997.

Paolo Montalban, who played Prince Christopher in that version, is also returning to play a similar version of the character, King Charming.
