A contestant from the BBC hit The Traitors has been branded ‘the future of television’ by Ricky Gervais’ After Life co-star.
The Traitors star Paul Gorton, who is an aspiring comedian, is said to be a familiar name amongst the fans of a popular comedy podcast.
And since regularly appearing on the Chatabix podcast prior to his BBC stint, Paul has received the seal of approval from hosts Joe Wilkinson and David Earl.
David, who appeared alongside Ricky on the hit series After Life, made the suggestion to Paul that he should sign up for The Traitors.
And now seven months since their discussion, Paul is competing against 21 contestants hoping to win £120,000.

According to Chortle, David told the publication: ‘From the moment I met Paul I could see he had that X Factor. This man is going all the way to the top. Step aside guys. Welcome to the future of television.’
Joe added: ‘We knew Paul was destined for greatness the first time we spoke to him and we are over the moon that the rest of the country is now getting to enjoy Paul in his full glory.’
Paul previously appeared as a contestant on Deal Or No Deal with Noel Edmonds in 2010, aged just 22.
The first two hopefuls to be eliminated from The Traitors 2023 have been revealed after a murder and banishment in quick succession left the remaining contestants reeling.
Aubrey Emerson was the first victim claimed by the four Traitors after they noted he already ‘had his suspicions’ around who could be hiding in one of the sinister cloaks.
The move wasn’t well-received by many fans, who quickly declared that the ‘wrong person’ had been killed off.
The second episode, which aired on Thursday night, also revealed that Miles Asteri was chosen as the fourth Traitor, joining forces with the group to decide which contestant they wanted to murder.
While the group debated choosing Diane Carson or Sonja, they eventually opted to choose Aubre.

Miles noted: ‘Aubrey watches from a distance, he’s been in the gameplan since day one,’ with Harry agreeing: ‘This what we don’t want is the separate groups.’
‘The message that we should try and send is no one’s safe. I don’t think anyone would suspect us to say Aubrey, throws him off our scent.’
Upon receiving the letter learning he’d been murdered, Aubrey said: ‘I think I’ve been murdered because I’m too observant, I was a threat to The Traitors and they could see that. I say what I see, they’ve made a big mistake.’
While the group agreed that the murder made things feel far more ‘real,’ it was the first round table of the series that really shocked the group.
While Diane and Anthony did draw attention from the group with their own tactical behaviour, Sonja received an overwhelming majority, with 15 votes, meaning she had been banished from the game.
As she made her exit, gasps filled the room when Sonja confirmed that she was a Faithful, saying: ‘Well guys facts are important to me as they are to you, so here’s a fact I would like to confirm to you, and that is that I am a Faithful.’
