Ricki-Lee Coulter Opens Up About the Most Challenging Year in her 20-Year Career: ‘I’ve Faced So Many Challenges’

Ricki-Lee Coulter has opened up to fans about her difficult year.

The singer, who turned 38 last week, took to Instagram earlier this week to thank her followers for their support while reflecting on her music career that’s spanned two decades.

Ricki-Lee explained how her tumultuous year has been both challenging yet rewarding as she struggles to ‘juggle everything’.

‘Feeling so loved! This year has been the hardest year of the last 20 years of my career. Trying to juggle everything and fit it ALL in certainly hasn’t been easy,’ she began.

‘Putting music out through your own label means that the buck stops with you… there’s nobody to make the decisions for you.’

‘Like anyone who runs their own business…you are THE decision maker, the planner, the organiser, the one that has to think about every scenario and make educated decisions on what the best thing to do is, and then the one who has to put all those things into place and make sure all the boxes are ticked and everything gets done.’

‘But I’m also the artist – working on the creative side, making the music, writing the songs and getting the production perfect and getting the artwork and imagery and music videos looking amazing and epic!’ she continued.

The star also pointed out her busy schedule, noting her roles as host of Australian Idol and her Nova radio show, which she hosts alongside Joel Creasey and Tim Blackwell from 4pm to 6pm.

She then explained that it’s been hard ‘travelling around the country performing and doing live shows’ all which trying to find time for herself.

‘To have fun with my friends and see my family and switch off has been a challenge in itself too,’ she added.

Ricki-Lee continued: ‘There’s been a lot on my plate but every single day, I know how lucky I am to be able to do what I do…and I honestly wouldn’t change it for the world!’

The hitmaker ended her post by thanking her fans following the release of her latest single Ghost.

‘So when I hear and see how much you guys love the music… and see Ghost at #1 and see you guys streaming it and posting about it, and to see the amazing response to the album and the excitement for it…it makes it all worth it!’ she said.

Ricki-Lee rose to fame after she made it to the top 10 on Australian Idol back in 2004.

She placed seventh, and the talented performer has remained a fixture of the music industry ever since.

This year, she co-presented Channel Seven’s reboot with Scott Tweedie.

Ricki-Lee recently revealed why it’s so special returning to Australian Idol, 19 years ago after the show made her famous.

‘This show made all of my childhood dreams come true,’ Ricki-Lee told 7News.

‘When I was a little girl, all I wanted was to be on stage and to perform for people, making music that makes people feel something.’

Ricki-Lee also hosted last year’s season of Australia’s Got Talent on Seven, and was there to comfort the contestants backstage.

The Gold Coast native has had four No. 1 hits on the ARIA Dance Chart, ten Top 10 singles on ARIA Singles Chart, two Top 10 entries on the ARIA Albums Chart, and has accumulated more than 75 million streams.
