Nick then asked him: ‘Do you have to stockpile them (the puddings)?’
Richard quickly replied saying: ‘I’ve got 27 in my pantry!’
During the podcast interview Richard also revealed why he only auditions from home and never watches his own films back.
The Saltburn star lifted the lid on his life in the spotlight as he appeared on Wednesday’s episode of the Dish from Waitrose podcast.
Speaking to Nick and Angela, Richard admitted he prefers self tapes to in-person auditions because it gives you the opportunity to re-record if you mess up.
He also touched on how it can psyche you out at an audition when the person in before you is friends with the panel already. ‘It’s soul-destroying,’ Richard said.
‘You have to self-tape a lot,’ he said. ‘Great because you don’t have to, you can learn the thing and then prepare it and then you do it, and you’re not nervous because you’re at home and then if you cock it up you can redo it.
‘Whereas if you walk into a room like this, are people sitting there going, ‘Yeah, do your piece’…Yeah.

‘And the person that’s just leaving is, you know, best friends with the casting director, saying, ‘Darling, we’ll call you next week, dinner, darling’.
‘You go in there and you say the same words that they’ve just said…And you’ve heard them laughing at the previous person and it’s like this…
‘It’s soul destroying…So it’s better to self-tape for me.’
Richard also revealed that he never watches back films he is in he finds it ‘horrifying’.
Asked if he tends to watching himself, he said: ‘Never. No, I watched the first film I was ever in thirty-seven years ago, I watched a screening of it and was so appalled that I offered the director, Bruce Robinson, the money back…
‘I was so horrified, because you can’t fix it, you just think, oh my god, is that what you look like?
‘You love doing it, I love doing the acting stuff, but you do not want to watch the replay afterwards…’
Richard is well-known for his obsession with singing sensation Barbra Streisand – having purchased an enormous two-foot sculpture of the star for his garden.
And speaking on the podcast, Richard recalled he told Barbra about his sculpture during a conversation five years ago.
‘I had a two-hour conversation with her one to one at Donna Karan’s house five years ago…Absolutely unbelievable,’ he said.
‘When I told her at the end of it, I said, ‘I’ve suddenly confessed,’ and she said, ‘What’s that?’ And I said, ‘I’ve commissioned a two-foot-tall statue of your head for my garden’…And she said, ‘You are crazy.’ And I said, ‘Yes, I know that.’
‘She said, ‘No, no, you are meshuga, you are crazy’.’
Posing alongside his impressive statue in 2020, the Star Wars actor captioned the image: ‘Honouring @BarbraStreisand who favours being filmed from her left side.
‘Commissioned a sculpture of @BarbraStreisand as I’ve been an avid fan for over half a century. It’s 2 foot tall and finally received it today!!’ [sic]

In a separate clip, the Logan star explained the inspiration behind the sculpture as he said: ‘I’ve been a Barbra Streisand fan for 50 years, and when I saw her last summer, I told her I was having a sculpture made of her face.
‘She told me I was insane… she said: ‘No, no, no, you are insane!’ Here it is, I couldn’t be happier.’
At the 2019 Oscars, the Downton Abbey actor not only saw Barbra appear on stage but also met the woman herself – a moment he delightedly shared on social media.
He had voiced his excitement over meeting the award-winning musician, who he wrote a fan letter to aged 14, before sharing a series of snaps with various fellow stars at the award show.
