Ryan Reynolds has taken a brutal dig at his close pal Hugh Jackman after his split from Deborra-Lee Furness.
Hugh, 55, and his wife of 27 years Deborra-Lee, 68, announced their shock split in September last year, telling fans they separated ‘to pursue our individual growth’.
The Australian actor is very private and has rarely spoken about his divorce, but the split has been alluded to in his new blockbuster Deadpool vs Wolverine.
In the action franchise, known for breaking the fourth wall, Ryan’s character Deadpool makes a cheeky reference to Hugh’s divorce.
‘He’s usually shirtless, but he’s let himself go since the divorce,’ he says of Hugh’s character Wolverine, according to news.com.au.
Given Wolverine has not been through a divorce, it appears the joke was referencing Hugh’s real-life marriage and had been approved by the Hollywood star.
As well as starring in the upcoming film, Ryan – who is known for his sense of humour and jokey verbal sparring with Hugh – also served as a credited writer.
Ryan, 47, and Hugh are no stranger to making jokes at the other’s expense and frequently share lighthearted jabs at one another on social media.

The close friends have been leaving fans in stitches by pranking each other throughout their global Deadpool press tour ahead of the film’s July 25 release.
Hugh and Deborra-Lee – who share two adopted children, a son Oscar, 24, and a daughter Ava, 18 – confirmed their split in September.
‘We have been blessed to share almost three decades together in a wonderful, loving marriage,’ the couple said in a statement to People at the time.
‘Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.
‘Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.
‘We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition.’
An insider previously told ET that there ‘is no animosity’ between the exes.

‘Hugh and Deborra-Lee are both on different pages and in separate chapters of their lives,’ they said.
‘They felt like it was time to divorce, but they still maintain a happy and cordial friendship.’
‘At the end of the day, it was their collective agreement to go their separate ways and do the healthiest thing for everyone involved,’ they added.
The couple had tied the knot in 1996 after crossing paths on set of Correlli in 1995.
