Love Island finalist Sean Stone has revealed his regret over ‘getting wrapped up’ in controversial friendship with Joey Essex during his time the villa.
The sweet salesman, 24, who finished in third place alongside Matilda Draper, said that he should have spent his time concentrating on his ‘own relationship’ after he and the TOWIE star, 34, were accused of ‘pot-stirring’.
Fans slammed the pair and 253 viewers issued a complaint to Ofcom about their treatment towards fellow islanders during the Grafties Awards.
Speaking following the final, Sean was asked about his regrets, saying: ‘Probably I could have been a bit more screwed on. I probably got wrapped up in things with the Joey friendship and how that panned out’.
‘Maybe I should have held back more in some scenarios, like with the [eventual winners] Josh and Mimii situation. I should have just focused on myself and my relationships more. By the end of course we were all great friends’.

Viewers had also accused Sean of acting out of character in a bid to secure the friendship of reality TV veteran.
Joey was engulfed in further controversy after asking Josh a bizarre question following his ‘awkward’ talent show rap.
The rap included mentions of all his fellow Islanders and as the klaxon to indicate his time on the stage was up went off for a third time, everyone applauded, but Joey quipped: ‘Wait, wait, wait. When I say secret – you say mission. Secret…’
This resulted in an awkward silence, with Joey asking: ‘Anyone? Well that didn’t go that well did it?’
In the latest episode, Joey and Josh got into a heated row over the incident, with the reality star asking: ‘Surely you aren’t offended by my rap?’
An unimpressed Josh responded: ‘Don’t patronise me’
Joey, who was voted out with Jessy Potts on Sunday, was branded the ‘main villain’ of the season after ‘egging on’ the other Islanders to betray their couples.
Reaching the final week, irritations with Joey’s ‘pot-stirring’ reached boiling point and he won the award in a very explosive Grafties episode.

After Samantha Kenny’s brutal dumping when Grace stole Joey, ITV was hit with more than 100 Ofcom complaints
The Islanders were nominated for categories voted for by the public which included ‘It’s Giving One Sided’ and ‘Most Dramatic Performance.’
Joey took centre stage for the most part where he was nominated for three awards Ultimate Pot Stirrer, Flirtiest Performance and Unfinished Business category.
For the Flirtiest Performance award, his conversations with bombshell Lola were aired on the big screen for all to see, leaving his partner Jessy Potts less than impressed with his antics as she said: ‘Well you used the trouble maker line on me first… if she put in more of a graft would you have failed the test?’
When clips for the nominees for ‘Unfinished Business’ were shown things really kicked off after early VTs of Grace Jackson and Josh Oyinsan were shown where Grace admitted that she fancied Josh, Joey could be heard sarcastically saying ‘No way, that’s so bad!’ and then continually asking ‘Do you still fancy him, yes or no?’
Josh clapped back: ‘The question is, do you still fancy her?’
Joey pointing at his couple, Jessy said ‘Look what I’ve got. My situation with Grace is very different.’
Also in the nominations category were Grace and Joey. Past clips showed Joey repeatedly saying to Islanders that he thinks Grace – who he once dated prior to the show – still had feelings for him.
After he was heard saying to Jessy: ‘I think she has latched onto you because she can’t have me’ he turned to the villa and confidently confirmed: ‘Straight facts.’
The Islanders blasted Joey for making comments that were ‘unnecessary’, while viewers agreed.
After Samantha’s brutal dumping when Grace stole Joey, ITV was hit with more than 100 Ofcom complaints.
Infuriated viewers took to social media demanding ‘justice’ for her and it was then revealed that 121 complaints were made to Ofcom about the dating show.

The broadcaster confirmed to MailOnline at the time that the majority were about the brutal dumping.
Despite Joey insisting he wasn’t given any special treatment during his time on Love Island because he was already a celebrity, it can now be revealed that he did.
MailOnline understands that Joey, who was introduced as a ‘bombshell’ in the first week of the show, was ‘promised the final’ before entering the show and was furious when he was sent packing on Sunday night’s show with his partner Jessy Potts after the ex-Islanders voted them the least compatible couple.
And, sources close to the show say that the former TOWIE star was given ‘two to three hours’ of time a day out of the villa which he spent with producers and away from the cameras.
Insiders also say Joey was given flowers by the production team to hand to the eventual winner Mimii after he was slammed for his behaviour towards her and her partner Josh.
In an episode last week, Joey was seen giving Mimii a bunch of flowers to apologise to her after previously arguing with her during a challenge.
However, ITV have now said: ‘Joey has not been treated differently at all at any point of the process both pre, during and post featuring on the series. We completely refute any claim as all islanders are treated equally.’
Upon entering the villa, ITV producers previously stated: ‘Joey is being treated like any other Love Island contestant, he’s playing by the same rules and won’t be given any preferential treatment.

‘He hasn’t been paid an appearance fee or any money at all for signing up to the show, not a penny.’
Just this week it was reported Joey, who is already worth £8 million, is set to earn a whopping £250,000 with a club tour following his Love Island dumping.
It came after it was revealed that he wasn’t being paid any more to be on the show than the other contestants – which is around £375 a week.
During the final episode on Monday night fans claimed they saw him looking ‘furious’ and ‘bitter’.
Viewers admitted they couldn’t help but notice his unimpressed facial expressions as the cameras paused on him during the show.
They speculated that he wasn’t happy he didn’t make it to the final with Jessy, 25, after leaving the villa just one day prior.
Whilst on the show Joey has been called ‘arrogant’, ‘problematic’ and ’embarrassing’.
