Rebecca Judd’s Must-Have Retro Fashion at the Melbourne Cup

Rebecca Judd led the charge when it came to the must-have fashion item at this year’s Melbourne Cup.

The most popular form of headwear this year was the pillbox hat – a rounded, retro cap that was most often worn in decades past.

Famously popularised in the 1960s by Jacqueline Kennedy, the chic hats are clearly back in vogue in 2025.

Bec opted for a maroon version with a flat bow detail at the front, which matched her flight attendant-style mini dress.

The glamorous influencer was a vision of beauty in her outfit which she paired with the matching Ezaraj hat.

The AFL WAG’s stunning burgundy Eliya frock teamed with matching Lana Wilkinson heels.

Also choosing a pillbox hat for the races was none other than the ‘Minister For Fashion’ – former Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.

Julie’s version came in beige straw and included a large silk bow at the back.

Former MasterChef Australia judge Melissa Leong, also known for her keen sense of fashion, joined in on the trend.

She opted for a black version of the pillbox hat, which featured a mesh veil across the front that obscured her face.

The black hat contrasted with her bright green frock, and she matched the headwear to her oversized envelope clutch and heels.

Samantha Armytage chose a red ensemble, including a classic pillbox hat constructed of straw.

It perfectly complemented her sleeveless, red halter dress, which was trimmed with feathers.

Melbourne DJ Perri Lee likewise chose an all-red look with a pillbox hat in the same shade.
