Rebecca Gibney has given fans an update on her beloved mother Shirley’s health.
The Packed to the Rafters star, 59, took to Instagram recently to inform her followers that her mother is recovering in hospital after a fall.
Rebecca posted a picture of her mother laying in a hospital bed giving a smile and a thumbs up.
Alongside the image, the New Zealand-born actress wrote that she had asked her mother’s permission to share the photo.
‘Mum has said it’s ok to post this pic as she said it looks way worse than it is but she did have a wee fall and is in hospital again for a little while. Nothing broken but a few cracks and bruising,’ Rebecca said.
‘I know how much she loves reading the comments and the well wishes from you all so if you could send a few prayers and some mighty love Shirl’s way we would all appreciate it.’
‘Healing energy travels. Thanks for the love,’ the Halifax f.p. actress added.
Last week, she gave another update on Shirley’s progress, suggesting her mother would be in hospital for a little while longer.

‘Just an update. Mum will be in hospital for a few more weeks. It’s a slow recovery but she’s doing much better. Thank you for all the love,’ she said in another Instagram post.
In the same Instagram post, Rebecca also took the time to reflect on the ‘fragile state’ of the world at the moment.
‘Greed, power, hatred, old men creating wars no one wants. It can be overwhelming. But so can love and kindness and striving for peace. Keep the faith. Do the thing. Life is precious. And Love will find a way,’ she wrote.

It comes after Rebecca was recently inducted into the TV Week Logie Hall of Fame by her 19-year-old son Zac Bell in a milestone achievement.
Rebecca spoke of her joy at taking home the award, saying she’s ‘utterly overwhelmed’ and ‘incredibly humbled’ by the honour.
‘So last night has to be up there with one of the best! To be inducted into the Hall of Fame has never been something I had even considered and to then witness not only so many dear friends saying so many incredible things followed by my son — for those that watched you would have seen my reaction,’ she posted.

‘I am still utterly overwhelmed, still incredibly humbled and very proud of this honour. Thank you to those people who reached out — there were so many and I have shed many tears reading the messages.’
Rebecca said as a girl growing up ‘in a tiny [New Zealand] town with enormous self doubt’ the it ‘meant the world’ to be honoured in Australia.
‘For a girl born in a tiny town in NZ with enormous self doubt to be honoured in this way by a country I have lived in and loved since I was a teenager … has meant the world to me,’ she added.
Rebecca is only the fourth woman ever inducted into the TV Week Logie Hall of Fame in 64 years, after Noni Hazlehurst, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and the late Ruth Cracknel.
Rebecca is best known for helming instant Aussie classic Packed to the Rafters as the nation’s favourite TV mum, Julie Rafters, from 2008, while she has also appeared in local classics including The Flying Doctors, Halifax f.p. and Stingers.
