Wendy Osefo had described the alleged robbery at her home before she and her husband Eddie were arrested on fraud charges on Thursday.
The Real Housewives Of Potomac star and her husband were indicted by a grand jury in Westminster, Maryland for insurance fraud, conspiracy insurance fraud, and making a false statement to police officer, per documents obtained by Us Weekly.
The pair had claimed designer bags and jewelry were stolen from their property while the family was away on vacation during an alleged April 2024 burglary.
However, police have learned several of the belongings worth $20k had allegedly been returned to the stores they had been purchased at for a ‘full refund’ prior to when they said the robbery had occurred.
During an episode of the Gabbing With Gib podcast last year in September, Wendy had gotten into detail about the alleged incident.
‘It happened because my family was away on spring break,’ the 41-year-old Bravo star stated. ‘It was our spring break trip with the kiddos and I was just so heartbroken.’

Wendy and Eddie tied the knot in 2011 and are parents to three children: Karter, 12, and Kruz, nine, and Kamrynn, six.
The TV personality claimed that the incident took place shortly before filming Real Housewives and had left her ‘uneasy.’
‘We had just been violated so to speak. It was the worst thing and so unexpected especially since from my vantage point and from the investigator’s vantage point it was targeted.’
The reality star expressed that the neighborhood had been relatively safe for many years.
‘Over 20 years there has been no burglary, like, nothing. It’s so heartbreaking and again going back to my earlier statement at my core [what] centers me is motherhood. My first thought was my kids.’
Wendy further called the alleged burglary ‘gut wrenching’ and explained that their home was now ‘Fort Knox.’
The star added that there have since been many changes in their lives, including how she approaches social media.
‘It’s altered the way I move and you want to be naive and feel like no one is watching you.’

The TV personality and her husband Eddie are accused of alleging they had designer bags and jewelry stolen from their home during a vacation to Jamaica.
But police learned several of the belongings worth $20k had allegedly been returned to the stores they had been purchased at for a ‘full refund’ prior to when they said the burglary had occurred.
They are accused by prosecutors of claiming a $450,000 personal property loss with an insurance company.
The Daily Mail has reached out to the couple for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Wendy was also allegedly seen wearing a diamond ring she claimed had been stolen during the burglary in a social media post uploaded after the alleged theft.
The police investigated and allegedly learned other belongings the couple claimed to have been stolen were returned to the stores they were purchased at ‘where a full refund was provided prior to the alleged burglary.’
Wendy and her husband were released on Friday and released on a $50,000 bond.

In a press conference, police claim it all started after deputies responded to their home on April 7, 2024 at around 10:13pm for a reported burglary, after Eddie called 911 to report the alleged theft.
The couple claimed they had been burglarized some time between April 2 and 7 of that year during their trip to Jamaica.
They alleged designer handbags and jewelry valued at more than $200K had been missing from their primary bedroom, which police noted was ransacked with the mattress thrown from the bed onto the floor to ‘give an indication that a burglary did occur.’
Police investigated their claims, looking into surveillance cameras from their residence and neighbors but found no indication of suspicious activity or evidence of a break-in.
The police also reached out to the three different insurance companies that Osefos ‘used to insure their property, which is common with this.. type loss that detectives actually communicate with insurance companies to share information,’ the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also said the couple ‘contacted detectives several times’ to share more information about the alleged theft, evidence, and missing belongings, and also reported their losses to their insurance company.
But detectives found photos Osefo posted weeks after the alleged burglary ‘wearing jewelry that matched items she had reported stolen, specifically a diamond anniversary ring.’
Police also combed through receipts the couple provided detectives with of the missing items, some of which dated back to 2018.
The receipts were really what raised alarm bells.

The receipt in question was ’email addresses’ and upon further investigation they found more evidence backing up their suspicions the claim was fraudulent.
Police also claim the allegedly stolen items purchased in 2018 were returned in that same year.
‘We can see as far back as 2018 and several items that have been purchased in 18 and receipts supplied to the insurance company, only those items had been returned to the purchaser, or to the store that she purchased them from, during the window in 2018 of the return policy,’ police said.
‘Meaning if it was a 90 day return policy back in 2018, she actually returned those items within that 90 day period.’
The police obtained a search and seizure warrants for the accounts and saw that Eddie had allegedly emailed his wife: ‘Are there additional high value items we can add to this inventory list? I’m trying to get the total to exceed $423,000, which is our policy maximum.’
‘Based on a thorough investigation conducted by detectives in my office… it became clear that the Osefos have fabricated the burglary and filed a false report in an attempt to defraud their insurance company,’ the police said.
The couple were ultimately indicted by a grand jury ‘on multiple counts of fraud and false reporting’ and arrested at their home on October 9th in the afternoon.
On Friday, a representative for Wendy says the couple are ‘back home’ and ‘look forward to their day in court’
A search and seizure warrant was executed at the home during the arrest, and detectives allegedly uncovered 15 more items the couple were ‘believed to be reported stolen.’ The items consisted of jewelry and high-end handbags.
On Friday, a representative for Wendy says the couple are ‘back home’ and ‘look forward to their day in court.’
