Eileen Davidson has sparked outrage online after sharing a controversial post about conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, just days after he was fatally shot on the campus of Utah Valley University.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 66, reposted a message on Instagram that read: ‘I am not in support of what happened to Charlie Kirk but Charlie Kirk was in support of what happened to Charlie Kirk.’
A screenshot of the post has since been uploaded to Reddit, where it has received 59,000 upvotes and 786 comments, which is a massive response on the site.
The remark was a reference to Kirk’s uncompromising views on gun rights, in which he argued gun-related deaths are an unfortunate but necessary cost of protecting Second Amendment right to bear arms.
Davidson quickly faced backlash for the post, which many critics interpreted as mocking Kirk’s assassination.
In response to the criticism, the Emmy Award–winning actress, who is also known for her work on Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless, attempted to clarify her position.
‘Never ever in one million years would I celebrate the assassination of anybody, ever. Please don’t twist things around,’ she told her 275,200 followers.

Still, Davidson stood firm in defending her original post, which has since been deleted.
When one critic accused her of backtracking, she replied: ‘I stand by my post, sweetie.’
When another accused her of trying to make a ‘profound political point’ at the expense of Kirk’s death, Davidson hit back: ‘Don’t be insipid.’
Not all reactions were negative.
Several followers defended Davidson, insisting her words were being taken out of context.
‘People know your heart,’ one supporter wrote. ‘We live in a climate today where words get twisted, hell, even made up sometimes. Mostly to paint a false portrait or taken way out of context to fit a villain narrative.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to Davidson for comment.

She also reposted a quote that read: ‘A nation who mourns deeper for a dead right-wing hate merchant than it does for dead school children is a nation who has lost her soul.’
