Raye Shares Childhood Cello Skills in Fun Clip, Reacts in Comments!

She’s best known for her impressive vocals, but a clip of the Brit Award-winning hitmaker Raye has shown she boasts a vast array of musical talents.

A video posted by her former schoolmate on TikTok shows the fresh-faced singer, 27, displaying her cello skills, with the singer sharing her own hilarious reaction to the post in the comments.

The clip showed a young Raye playing the instrument with her classmate Georgia, who posted the video in disbelief that she’d learned the cello alongside the soon-to-be superstar.

The video featured text which read: ‘POV: You’re casually pretending to know the cello whilst sat next to a six-time Brit Award winner and multiple Grammy nominee.’

Georgia captioned the video: ‘Just chilling with superstars. She would laugh if she saw this btw.’

Raye then shared her delight at the unexpected blast from the past, joking in the comments that they sounded ‘awful’ while learning the cello.

She wrote: ‘We sound awful hahahahahahah, also remember that dance routine you made to Deja Vu that we did for the end of year show, u ate that up Georgia!!!

‘Been so many years!! Hope you’re well.’

Georgia replied: ‘Terrible! I’m sure we agreed to do it because we used to get out of class don’t… I have the video of that too!!

‘Cute and embarrassing, someone commented at least one of us knew how to make the whole music thing work, so amazing to see your success and keep climbing that ladder girl!!’

Raye attended Woodcote High School in Croydon before landing a place in the prestigious BRIT School at the age of 14, but admitted in 2017 she dropped out after two years due to feeling ‘confined.’

It comes after the star opened up about her struggles with drug addiction during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

The singer previously opened up about dating after her sexual assault and how her sister gave her the biggest wakeup call during her drug battle as she posed for October’s British Vogue.

During Raye’s adolescent years, she became involved in drugs, particularly when she was living with her sister Lauren Keen.

Opening up about her addictions at the time, the hitmaker said she shielded drugs from her parents: ‘I didn’t tell Mum and Dad about what we were going through.’

A breakthrough came when Lauren issued harsh words to Raye after having a front row seat at her battles with drugs.

She explained: ‘It got so intense. I said, “I love you as a sister, but I wouldn’t want you in my life as anything else. I don’t like you as a friend.” She’s always said that really hit her.’

The Love Of Your Life star has admitted she’s thought about taking weight loss medication such as Mounjaro after years of battling with her body image and eating disorders.

Reflecting on her childhood, she shared how she would wear oversized clothing because she was ‘so ashamed of what was underneath’.

While she doesn’t judge those who do take the jab, Raye explained: ‘I want to treat my body with respect and I try to look at it like that.

‘I love to try new foods and have a drink with my band, but also want to look in the mirror and not have a mental breakdown.’

Raye was also assaulted by a music producer who forced his hand between her legs when she was 17.

Opening up about her previous experience with dating and relationships, she said she grew up wanting a ‘manly man’.

She then mused: ‘Then you go through some of the… you know.’

She previously revealed her deeply sensitive experiences with sexual assault and addiction in her debut album My 21st Century Blues.
