She’s one of Australia’s most iconic catwalk stars – but on Monday, Gemma Ward traded runways for sand as she was spotted enjoying a relaxed beach day with her children in Sydney.
The famously private 37-year-old model was photographed barefoot and make-up free as she played doting mum, wrangling towels and carrying her kids’ belongings.
Dressed down but effortlessly stylish, Gemma wore a cropped cream blouse paired with wide-legged maroon pants, a laid-back yet chic ensemble perfect for the balmy beach weather.
Her long blonde locks hung loose over her shoulders, and she accessorised with a silver wristwatch and patterned shoulder bag.
In one candid moment, the mother-of-three was seen clutching a stack of colourful beach towels and a pink water bottle, along with a pair of Converse sneakers, suggesting the day had been filled with sun-soaked fun and family bonding.
Later, she was spotted helping one of her young children – dressed in a red and black wetsuit and covered in sand – navigate the shoreline.

The heartwarming moment showed a different side of the international model who once graced the covers of Vogue and walked for Prada, Chanel, and Dior.
Another snap captured the former fashion darling confidently carrying a large blue Odyssey surfboard, hinting that the beach outing wasn’t just about the kids as Gemma appeared ready to catch a few waves herself.
Despite her global fame, Gemma has kept a relatively low profile in recent years, choosing to focus on her family and creative projects rather than the high-octane world of fashion.
She shares her children Naia, Jet, and Kirra with long-time partner David Letts and has spoken in the past about prioritising motherhood and a grounded lifestyle away from the limelight.
The sighting marks a rare public appearance for the Perth-born beauty, who now resides in Sydney and is known for her commitment to a private, beachside life.
Gemma, who became a household name in the early 2000s as part of the ‘doll face’ model era, has also dabbled in acting, appearing in films like The Great Gatsby and The Strangers.
However, her primary role these days appears to be that of devoted mum – and by the looks of her latest outing, she’s thriving in it.
It comes after Gemma revealed some unexpected advice she once received from Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

Of all the words of wisdom the Australian model received from the industry veteran, 45, the most surprising was: ‘Never pay for anything.’
Bündchen has famously been romantically involved with wealthy superstars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Kelly Slater and Tom Brady.
Speaking with RUSSH, the actor revealed it wasn’t the only advice the world’s highest paid model gave her.
Gemma said the blonde beauty also spoke with her about how to style an ‘off-duty model’ look.
‘I guess there are people who play with their own personal style and then there’s the signature model off-duty look, like jeans and a t-shirt,’ Gemma said.
‘Gisele would tell me, “Only wear a T-shirt and jeans, and never pay for anything.” But I’ve always loved to experiment with style.’
Gisele recently endured a turbulent split in 2022 from American footballer Tom Brady with whom she shares two children Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 10.

She stepped away from her modelling career to raise their children with the NFL star but has since made a huge return to her supermodel roots after their split.
Meanwhile, Gemma is considered one of Australia’s most successful models and made her Australian Fashion Week debut at just age 15 in 2003.
After a short break from modelling, she returned to the industry in 2018.
She previously told Vogue about her return: ‘I came back to modelling because I felt in a place where I was accepting of myself and ready to continue my journey and accept opportunities placed in my way.’
