Radio Icon Phil Brady, 84, Endured Hour-Long Struggle on Belly to Alert Help Following Devastating Fall

Radio and TV legend Phil Brady has opened up about the horrific details behind an accident that left him with a broken hip.

The 84-year-old who presents the Remember When show on Melbourne’s 3AW was walking his dog  on Friday when the animal suddenly lurched sending Brady sprawling.

Unable to walk after smashing his hip Brady then had to struggle for an hour along his drive way before reaching his house in order to raise the alarm.

‘I had to crawl on my belly from the garden to reach my phone,’ the media veteran told the Herald Sun on Saturday.

‘And I could only do that by pulling on different plans in the garden along the way to help me move forward inch by inch.’

He added: ‘It was agony. I am alive though and that is all that matters.’

Elsewhere in the chat, Brady explained that the incident occurred late at night while he was walking his boisterous Golden Retriever Oro.

The large dog sent Brady flying into the concrete after the radio presenter tried to restrain it from barking at a passer-by, he said.

The accident now means that Brady is taking time off from his regular Remember When gig at 3AW which he hosts alongside Simon Owens.

But he says he is recovering well after undergoing surgery at Melbourne’s Epworth Hospital.
