Rachael Finch has shared a shock photo of the aftermath of her horror kitchen accident, in which the top of her thumb was sliced off.
The Australian model posted the confronting image to social media on Tuesday, showing her hand holding the severed tip of her thumb after it had been carefully cleaned and sanitised.
Rachael also shared a snapshot of herself at a doctor’s office, seated in a chair and giving a thumbs-up to fans with her bandaged finger.
She reflected on the incident in her caption: ‘If I’ve re-learnt anything the past couple of weeks it’s the importance of not rushing.
‘Take your time. Be careful. Read the instructions. So what if you’re a little late…
‘It started with me slicing the top of my finger off then continued with my husband’s mother falling over and breaking her shoulder!’

Rachael then cheekily assured her fans she was on the mend.
‘We are both on the road to recovery: Thank you for everyone for your beautiful messages – I see them all! Love you guys. Thumbs up,’ she wrote.
The accident happened when Rachael was making a humble salad in her kitchen.
She sliced the top of her thumb off while cutting cabbage with a mandoline slicer.
Rachael shared a photo that showed her sitting in the back of an Uber on her way to the hospital with her thumb raised in the air and wrapped in a tea towel.
‘Yep, sliced the top of my thumb off and put myself in an Uber to ER,’ she captioned the photo.
‘Husband was at tennis with the kids. I am pretty good at staying calm in these types of situations. However, I am not good at typing with my left hand.’
Coincidentally, the offending kitchen utensil was gifted to Rachael by My Kitchen Rules star Ash Pollard, with the former Miss Universe runner-up sending Ash a video of her using the slicer before the accident.

Ash later revealed that she did indeed gift Rachael the slicer.
‘So here I was trying to be a good friend and introduce like a really good kitchen utensil into her kitchen for her, because she just chops everything manually,’ Ash explained.
‘I thought this is going to change her life.
‘Maybe I just went too big too soon guys, I mean, we’ve all chopped the end of our finger off, haven’t we?’
As she waited to be seen by hospital staff, Rachael shared a text exchange with Ash, writing: ‘In emergency now,’ to which Ash replied: ‘That’s bad. Show me.’
‘I have the tip of my finger with me,’ Rachael added, and Ash could only respond with a shocked: ‘no f***ing way.’
In the wake of the ordeal, Rachael shared a series of videos following her trip to the ER, to give her 322,000 followers an update on her condition.
Standing in her kitchen making a coffee, Rachael admitted to not using the safety guard that came with the slicer.
