Prue Leith has revealed she doesn’t need to wear her trademark glasses any longer – after having an operation to remove cataracts.
The 84-year-old Bake Off judge is known for her colourful specs and recently boasted she owns 24 pairs.
But last year she went under the knife, and as a result has no need for glasses.
However, she says she can’t stop wearing them as she likes them so much – and she joked that she needed to be seen with them on to advertise her Specs by Prue range.

Talking to Woman’s Weekly magazine, the celebrity chef said of her glasses: ‘I don’t actually need my specs any more, but I love them and you can’t sell a range of specs if you don’t wear them.
‘I got an eye test, and while I was there, they told me I’d got cataracts beginning that I’d have to have removed.
‘My sight wasn’t blurry or anything.
I had both eyes done together, which is unusual.
‘They like to do them separately in case something goes wrong, but I didn’t have the time for that.’
