Ozzy Osbourne’s producer Andrew Watt recalled their final moments together as he admitted the Black Sabbath star’s sudden death still shocks him.

In July, Ozzy tragically died at the age of 76, a matter of weeks after what became his final ever performance with the rock band.

Now speaking to Rolling Stone, Andrew has reflected on the Birmingham concert, Back to the Beginning, which took place on July 5.

Speaking about how it felt ‘surreal’, Andrew explained: ‘Everything was normal. And the next day the news was just a giant shock.’

He also discussed their final moments together the night before the show.

Andrew spent several hours with Ozzy in his hotel room as they prepared for the big event.

He added: ‘He could see you in your good, your bad, and just in a way that you were – he was witchy like that. He often knew things that were gonna happen before they happened and just had an incredible sense.’

Thankfully, Ozzy’s last show was ‘unbelievable’ according to Andrew.

‘At this current moment, it feels like a dream sequence,’ he said. ‘The whole last month of his life feels like a dream. I had been in London working on a project, and going to the show and getting to Birmingham was amazing.’

Andrew had produced Ozzy’s last two albums – Ordinary Man in 2020 and Patient Number 9 in 2022 – following the singer’s accident in 2019.

Ozzy underwent numerous corrective surgeries, escalating health issues and the progressive effects of his Parkinson’s diagnosis, in the lead up to his death.

The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on July 22 at age 76, and was laid to rest on the grounds of his mansion in Buckinghamshire, England.

Ozzy was laid to rest during a private funeral attended by his family and a host of rock royalty.

His widow Sharon and their children were joined by stars including Marilyn Manson and Ozzy’s lead guitarist Zakk Wylde during the event at the family’s 250-acre estate near Gerrards Cross.

Official documents listed three causes of death for the rock legend.

This included an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction and coronary artery disease, and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction.

In a statement shared in July, Ozzy’s family said he died ‘surrounded by love’, adding: ‘It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.’
