Omid Scobie’s claim that the Princess of Wales was widely known by the nickname ‘Katie Keen’ for her eagerness to please palace officials has bemused royal correspondents, who had never heard the term used.

Indeed, just last year the former actress used her Archetypes podcast series (RIP) to tell listeners about her love of the comic. ‘I read a lot of Archie Comic books as a child,’ she told Mindy Kaling. ‘I always wanted this cookie-cutter perfect life.’

The King is thought to be taking revelations in Scobie’s book ‘very seriously’ after two royals, reported to be himself and the Princess of Wales, were named in the Dutch version of the book as the royals identified by Meghan as having expressed ‘concern’ over her future son’s skin colour

In the 1960s cartoon, later turned into a television series starring Lucy Hale, Katy is the girl-next-door, eager for fame and dripping with ambition, who eventually becomes a Broadway star.
Meghan, meanwhile, made clear that she sees herself more as Betty – the kind but meek character in the Archie stories known for rescuing wounded birds and helping the homeless.
‘I’m the smart one, not the pretty one,’ she informed Kaling.
Scobie’s book is being taken ‘very seriously’ by the King after two senior royals, reported to be the Charles himself and the Princess of Wales were both named in the Dutch version of the book as having been identified by Meghan over claims ‘concern’ was expressed about her future son’s skin colour.
The author ‘swore on his life’ that the disclosure was not a publicity stunt, but the Mail revealed this week that one of translators responsible for the edition insisted that she had been given a manuscript with ‘the names of the royals there in black and white’.
Elsewhere in Endgame, Scobie claimed that Netflix deliberately dropped the trailer for its docuseries on Harry and Meghan the same day Prince William arrived in Boston to present the 2022 Earthshot awards.
He also revealed that the Duke of Sussex was furious when he discovered that his godmother – and the late Queen’s lady-in-waiting, Lady Susan Hussey had become embroiled in a race row.
