Prince’s Indulgence Revealed Nine Years After His Death

The mythical stories about the late music legend Prince continue to emerge to this day.

A new Vanity Fair profile pulls back the curtain on Hollywood’s legendary party scene during the noughties – along with a glimpse of Prince’s epic lifestyle.

Jason Pomeranc, co-founder of Thompson Hotel Groups, described how Prince would perform at Teddy’s until dawn ‘just because he felt like it.’

‘Prince would come in and just start playing a random solo show at Teddy’s until four or five in the morning, just because he felt like it, right?’ he told the publication, seemingly referring to the nightclub Teddy’s at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. ‘And these things were regular occurrences. If you weren’t at the Prince pop-up show or you weren’t [there] when Courtney Love showed up, it was gone. It was not on Instagram. I think that pushed people in LA to go out more.’

He also revealed the Purple Rain hitmaker would ‘only eat pancakes for days’.

‘[Prince] would stay up in the penthouse, which we had to redecorate to his specifications of white shag rugs and purple. And he would only eat pancakes for days.’

Seven-time Grammy winner Prince, whose timeless hits include Kiss, 1999 and Let’s Go Crazy, died at the age of 57 on April 21, 2016 from an accidental fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park home in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

During his storied career the Purple Rain star released 39 albums, but ultimately left a vast catalogue of unreleased material in a custom-built bank vault underneath his home.

As a result, a numerous posthumous collections of his previously unheard songs have been issued by his estate.

The Minneapolis, Minnesota native stood out amongst his musical contemporaries since the late 1970s by infusing a mix of funk, rock, R&B, soul, pop, synth-pop, new wave, jazz, blues and hip-hop to his songs – some of which were recorded by other artists.

After having sold more than 100 million records worldwide, the Sign O’ The Times legend is among the best-selling musical artists of all time.

Among his many accolades, Prince received seven Grammys, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award, and was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004.

During his lifetime, he starred on the big screen in the legendary Purple Rain.

The original rock musical drama film — scored by and starring Prince in his acting debut — was released in 1984 by Warner Bros.
