Prime Minister Anthony Albanese drops MAJOR hint about Australian band that may play at his wedding to Jodi Haydon

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has dropped a major hint about who will be providing the entertainment at his impending nuptials.

‘Albo’ is preparing to walk down the aisle later this year with fiancé Jodi Haydon.

The PM appeared on Abbie Chatfield’s It’s A Lot podcast on Friday and the topic quickly turned to the big day.

‘Obviously, there has been a lot of people waiting for a huge announcement – a date to be called,’ Abbie said, however she wasn’t referring to the soon-to-be-called Federal election.

‘Finally, Anthony, you’ve set a date for the wedding.’

As the pair shared a chuckle in the studio, the Prime Minister replied with: ‘We’ve narrowed it down to the second half of the year.’

‘We’re really looking forward to it. We had date night on Valentine’s day which was one year since we got engaged.’

Albo continued to gush about his bride-to-be when Abbie asked if the wedding would have the same vibe regardless of he results of he election.

‘It will be the same because it’s about us and family and friends,’ he said.

‘It’s not going to be broadcast live – it’s something that is about our relationship and, so much of our life is public, it will be a really private moment of pledging to spend the rest of our lives together.’

He continued: ‘When my first marriage ended I didn’t think i would find someone else, and I have.

‘We’re best friends, as well as lovers and people who will spend our lives together.’

Ever the promoter, Abbie then gave Anthony a suggestion for the musical entertainment for the evening, tipping her boyfriend Adam Hyde’s outfit Peking Duk would fit the bill.

‘Are Peking Duk going to play?’ Abbie asked. ‘Aka can I come and serve drinks.’

While Anthony said there may not be room for such big sounds at the wedding, the ‘after party’ might be a different story.’

‘Well, if it’s in Canberra, of course, Adam’s a good Canberran, so that’s certainly an option,’ he said.

‘But it’s [the wedding] going to be pretty small. The after party, perhaps.’

Albo, himself a dab hand behind the decks added: ‘Adam’s DJing style is a little bit different from mine, although I have of course DJ’d  but in a bit more of a dad kind of way than Peking Duk.’

Abbie then suggested that Adam’s penchant for flaunting his naked, hirsute physique on stage may not be he right fit for the wedding of a Prime Minister.

‘Adam shirtless and dripping with sweat at your wedding might not be the vibe you’re going for,’ she said.

Anthony replied with a self-effacing: ‘As long as it’s not me, no one wants to see that.’

The couple said in a recent interview with Australian Women’s Weekly that they are planning a modest ceremony for relatives and close friends that will likely be held in the spring after Australians have gone to the polls.

‘It will be small, intimate. Possibly outdoors, in the second half of this year, with our family and loved ones … And you can be sure (pet cavoodle) Toto will make an appearance,’ Jodi said.

Anthony said he had asked for the support of his 24-year-old son Nathan prior to popping the question, whom he shares with his ex-wife Carmel Tebbutt, a former NSW Deputy Premier.

‘I respect him and have a good relationship with him, and with his mother. So I asked him to think about it … and he was supportive. He wants me to be happy, and Nathan and Jodie have a really nice relationship as well,’ he said.

He said one major difference between himself and Ms Haydon became more apparent when deciding on the potential guest list – the size of their extended families.

‘Growing up, there was just me and my mum. I haven’t got any brothers or sisters. I’ve got one really close relative, my son Nathan, and I cherish that relationship – we’re great mates.

He said he ‘added it up this week’ and his six first cousins were vastly outnumbered by Haydon who ‘has hundreds … well, there must be 70 at least’.
