Love Island star Anna McEvoy has hit back at a follower who shamed her for indulging in a common pregnancy craving – McDonald’s.

The 32-year-old, who is heavily pregnant, filmed herself buying the takeaway and parking in her car to enjoy the salty treat.

‘What is everyone craving?’ she captioned the post, noting that she’s 22 weeks pregnant in her hashtags.

Anna ordered one hash brown.

Taking to her TikTok again on Wednesday, the reality star-turned-podcaster named and shamed the woman who sent her the following comment: ‘I would never put McDonald’s in my body, let alone while I’m pregnant.

‘I’m 30 weeks and have had no cravings because I’ve been in calorie surplus the whole time.’

In several video responses, Anna fumed about the way the comment had made her feel.

‘I’m going to say calmly, I don’t appreciate being shamed for eating one hash brown,’ she began.

‘Because it’s one of my pregnancy cravings and unfortunately I am extremely sick and taking Ondansetron to even survive the day.’

Ondansetron is a strong anti-nausea medication commonly used to prevent sickness and vomiting caused by morning sickness, chemotherapy and migraines.

‘If I don’t take it, I will spew all day long,’ she said. ‘So I’m sorry, it sounds like you’re having a really nice pregnancy where you can eat whole foods.

‘We just don’t all have that experience. I hope you understand without shaming other people.’

In her caption, Anna wrote, ‘Reminder that mum shaming is out in 2025.

‘Sometimes just eating is a win when you’re pregnant and severely nauseous!’

Other mums were quick to defend Anna in the comments, proving that junk food cravings are a relatively common experience in a pregnancy's first or second trimester

Anna is currently 22 weeks, or about five months pregnant, with her first child.

That is past the halfway point of the second trimester.

The Love Island Season two winner and her husband Michael Staples got married in a glamorous wedding ceremony at Corfu in Greece in May 2024.

Other mums were quick to defend Anna in the comments on her videos, proving that junk food cravings are a relatively common experience early in a pregnancy.

‘I literally had a sausage muffin every day because my cravings were ridiculous!’ someone wrote.

‘My first daughter is made out of cheeseburgers. Perfectly healthy,’ one wrote.

‘I literally had a whopper with cheese for breakfast today and I’m 18 weeks hehe,’ added another.

‘I ate Maccas snack wraps every second day in my pregnancy, so don’t stress yourself out with what people say,’ said a third mum.

Many of the mums who commented said if they struggled severely with nausea in the first and second trimesters, a simple item from McDonald’s or Hungry Jacks was often all they could stomach.

‘I reckon I ate a hash brown every day in my first two trimesters, it was literally one of the only things I could keep down,’ one mum admitted.

‘Hash browns were the only thing I could eat in my first pregnancy,’ another agreed. ‘Pregnancy is so challenging for some, you just get through it the best you can.’

‘I lived off Maccas soft serves in my first trimester. I have a perfectly healthy nine-month-old now,’ yet another young mum said.

‘Mickey D’s was one of the only things I could handle in my first trimester. And coke to drink helped my nausea significantly. Whatever works,’ someone else commented with a shrug emoji.

Others took a more humorous approach to the sensitive topic of policing how other people manage their pregnancies: ‘My baby is basically sponsored by Maccas at this point.’

Anna – who co-hosts the Where’s Your Head At? podcast with Tammy Hembrow’s husband Matt Zukowski – thanked her newfound community of mums for having her back.

However, the influencer also filmed herself eating a salad a couple of days later and admitted the judgmental comment had impacted her.
