Rumours are swirling that the next season of The Block may be heading to Phillip Island in Victoria.
The show’s original plans for Daylesford have been dumped and the producers are reportedly scouting new locations.
While there has been chatter about potential settings within Melbourne’s CBD and the inner suburbs of Carlton and South Yarra, given the significance of this milestone season, it might call for a more iconic locale.
Given Daylesford’s nationwide recognition as a tourist hotspot, there is a possibility that The Block would be venturing to the renowned tourism haven of Phillip Island.
As Fiona Byrne at the Herald Sun speculates, ‘a sea-change location would be a fresh angle for the show.’

Shifting to a coastal location would indeed provide a refreshing twist to the show’s concept.
Phillip Island made a recent appearance on The Block when two teams embarked on a thrilling adventure, taking a lap around the island’s new racetrack and enjoying a luxurious overnight stay.
The Victorian island, once the residence of Hollywood stars Chris and Liam Hemsworth and their parents before their move to Byron Bay, garnered recent attention when the Bass Coast Shire Council gave the green light to an $85 million waterfront hotel project at the former Isle of Wight site in Cowes.

The Block faces a time crunch as filming for its 20th season is slated to commence in early March.
Earlier this month, the show abandoned its plans to build in Daylesford due to complications in the planning approval process.
It comes as a member of the production team for The Block recently revealed a surprising method for ‘weeding out’ lazy potential contestants.
The Block’s casting director, Lucky Price, revealed on Sunday some behind-the-scenes tips for future contestants to ensure their success on the show.

Price told news.com.au that applicants needed to pay special attention to the lengthy application form, which is designed to weed out those not committed.
‘It’s a really rigorous application, there’s a reason we do that. It’s basic vetting. If you can’t get through it, you probably won’t finish your renovation on The Block,’ he said.
Price then said future contestants should adopt a positive mindset during their time on the show, so the negative moments don’t weigh them down.

‘There’s going to be days where you get dumped and there’s going to be days where you’re riding high. It’s an extreme situation, but mindset is everything.
‘The Block is a giant wave. You can get dumped by the wave, or you can get on top of that wave, throw your arms up in the air and have the ride of your life,’ he added.
Price said successful contestants should just be themselves on camera as audiences connect with a person they can tell is genuine.

The casting expert then said current cast members Liberty and Eliza (both pictured) are a great example of two contestants who, despite having no renovation experience, are thriving on the show by relying on their intelligence

‘They have no renovation experience, but the way Eliza can Google and find an answer to something in a split second? She’s got nous. They have get up and go, and they have drive. So it’s leaning into what your strengths are.’
Price added Channel Nine was looking for a diverse range of contestants so encouraged people from all backgrounds to consider applying.
Channel Nine is currently casting for the next season of The Block until October 15 and applicants can apply here.
Teams applying for the show must be available for a 12 week shoot period starting in late February 2024.
