Writing about her ordeal in an essay for Vulture, the 28-year-old, who identifies as queer and uses she/they pronouns, started experiencing gender dysphoria after immigrating to the U.S. from for college in 2015.
'I’d never questioned my gender before I came to America,' she wrote.
'I came to the U.S. thinking it would be where I would get to explore my queerness without cultural taboo or shame. In some ways, this was certainly true, but I also began to feel dysphoric.'
The actress said that she didn't identify with labels like nonbinary and genderqueer.
'I still felt like a woman, but I didn’t always feel comfortable performing womanhood in the way the West had deemed appropriate,' she added.

Ganesh, who has played Dr. Mohan since the first season of the hit HBO series premiered, will not be returning for season three
Wyle said that 'as writers, we're hard pressed to figure out what a lapse of time we can have and keep most of the ensemble together realistically.'
'Emergency rooms have a high revolving door,' he continued.
'As always, we try to bring in new characters or promote from within as we go through these cast changes and try to keep the storylines fresh.'
He added, 'But obviously, Supriya has been a huge part of our show since the beginning. And I love playing with her and working with Supriya, and we wish her all the best in her next endeavors. We’re going to miss her.'
R. Scott Gemmill, a showrunner of the show, also spoke about Ganesh's exit.

'It's sort of the nature of the show,' he told the outlet.
'Unfortunately, the way the medical profession works, you come in, you learn, you move on, and we want to try and be as truthful to that process as possible. So we're going to turn over our cast.
'But I think it’s a great launching pad for people,' he added. 'And that's the best we can do.'
While Ganesh is set to depart the series at the end of season two, Ayesha Harris, who plays senior night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis, will be promoted to a series regular at the beginning of season three.
Ganesh's character, Dr. Mohan, is in the middle of her residency in season two, so leaving the hospital could be a likely option to explain her season three exit.

The Pitt, which streams on HBO Max, is currently the most streamed show in America, beating out The Madison and Paradise.
