Residents of Phillip Island expressed outrage after receiving a letter from Channel Nine’s The Block weeks into filming.
The network sent an ‘introductory’ letter to local residents on Monday, revealing details of the ongoing shoot.
Channel Nine informed residents that they are halfway through filming before outlining the precautions taken to minimise disruption for locals.
‘Dear neighbour, as you would know the TV show The Block is being filmed on Phillip Island in 2024, and I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an update on our project,’ the letter began.
‘You may have already noted there are no film trucks, grips, gaffers or catering vehicles (the sorts of vehicles you may normally associate with a film shoot) required to produce The Block.’

‘I would also like to assure you that our construction team, cast and crew work within all council building guidelines, including the use of power tools. Specifically, the use of power tools is strily limited to between the hours of 7am and 6pm weekdays and 7am and 3pm Saturdays,’ they added.
‘Our traffic management team continue to ensure that traffic flow on Justice Road remains uninterrupted, including coordinating the stream of large delivery trucks.’
‘We are working closely with Bass Coast Shire who are aware of our activities and we have all the appropriate permits in place.’

The letter has sparked outrage, with one local resident taking to social media to share their disappointment over the delayed apology.
‘This letter, the neighbours should’ve received prior to commencing work with The Block!! Shame we’ve only got it now with only 5 weeks of filming left,’ they posted.
‘No consideration to neighbours with all the cars blocking the road and also the school children that need to cross the road to get the school bus… Shame on you the block!!’ the user continued.
In September, Daily Mail Australia revealed a Channel Nine-owned company had purchased Island Cove Villas for a whopping $9.5million.

The property currently features nine homes, a communal pool, a BBQ pavilion, tennis court and a children’s playground.
Tradies have been spotted wheeling building equipment into the site and a large truck was seen delivering essential materials for construction on Saturday.
The site is just a short drive from the famous ‘Penguin Parade’ on the island, and is described as ‘breathtaking from the moment you arrive’.
In November, construction crews could be seen on site putting up timber frames for a very tall fence all around the perimeter of the new production site.
