Multi-millionaire Peter Kay has built up a huge property empire worth a staggering £23million.
The comedian, 52, who once worked in a bingo hall as well as a factory manufacturing loo rolls, has £36.6million in the bank, latest accounts show.
Peter’s Oldham-registered property company Hussein Traders has £23.4million in investments, according to accounts filed on Monday.
The funnyman is the UK’s best comedian, ahead of Ricky Gervais and Michael McIntyre.
‘This just goes to show just how successful Peter has been in the world of entertainment and how determined he is to invest his earnings wisely,’ a financial expert told The Sun.
‘He’s done what so many celebrities do and put a lot of it into property, and given how big his portfolio is, it will see the comedian vying with movie stars and rock icons.’

Daily Mail has contacted Peter’s representatives for comment.
Despite his huge empire, Peter lives a modest life. He resides in his £900,000 home in Bolton and also owns an idyllic holiday home in Ireland.
Peter, whose mother Deirdre hails from Northern Ireland, has owned the second home, set in the countryside, for almost 20 years.
In an interview in 2009, he explained: ‘I like to be low-profile and keep my head down. I still go up to the Co-op Late Shop for a bottle of Tizer. Staying in Bolton has been hugely important for me. Every street is a memory or a story for me. This is my home’
‘Sometimes your work can become your life and real life can take a back seat but, for me, it’s the other way round; where I live and my family are my life.’
The family home where the Kays live with sons Charlie, 21, and Finley, 19, is less than ten minutes’ drive from the house he was raised in and which he so lovingly describes in his stand-up shows.
Wife Susan is his pre-fame sweetheart and they were married in 2001, just after his hit show Phoenix Nights started transmission. They met as teenagers, and she used to work in the local branch of Boots.
And Peter is determined to share his huge fortune. Last month, the comedian revealed he will donate all the profits from 12 new tour dates to cancer charities.
