Jade Thirlwall has been nominated for the first time as a solo artist after previously winning three awards with the group Little Mix.

The singer, 32, has earned recognition in the Pop Act and Song Of The Year categories, revealing it was when she wrote the hit Angel Of My Dreams that she finally established her individual sound.

Speaking as the nominations were announced, she said: ‘Obviously as a band we were nominated a few times and that’s amazing but when it’s for your own music and my own personal experiences, it does hit different, it feels extra special.

‘When I first started this solo journey, I was writing a lot of music to exist outside of the group and figure out who I am on my own but the minute I wrote Angel Of My Dreams, that was when I knew I had arrived and this is my sound, this is me.’

The jazz quintet Ezra Collective, who won the Mercury prize in 2023, landed four nominations for Best New Artist, Group Of The Year, Alternative Rock Act and Album Of The Year for their body of work Dance, No One’s Watching.

Their biggest competition comes from The Last Dinner Party who are also up for Best New Artist, Group Of The Year, Alternative Rock Act and Album Of The Year.

Thanks to globally successful artists Central Cee, Stormzy, and Dave, British rap is also well represented at this year’s BRIT Awards.

Central Cee has earned nods in the Song Of The Year category as well as Artist Of The Year, and Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act, while Stormzy has been nominated for the latter.

His hit Stargazing, which has amassed over 600 million streams, is up for Song Of The Year, with the hitmaker saying March’s ceremony will be the first BRIT Awards he’s ever attended.

He said: ‘Last year I was watching it on TV and to be there this year is something I am so looking forward to. It’s slap bang in the middle of my tour so my head is everywhere right now but I’m going to figure it out.’

The Beatles have landed a shock nomination after last receiving recognition at the BRITs 42 years ago.

They have been nominated for Song Of The Year with track Now and Then, written by the late John Lennon, 45 years ago.

It was digitally remastered in 2023, reached the No1 spot on the UK Singles Chart and broke several records including the longest gap between a band’s first and last number one.

Sam Thompson has admitted that Valentine’s Day felt like a ‘punch to the gut’ as he opened up about being single following split from Zara McDermott.

It was revealed by MailOnline that the pair separated in December after five years together, with Zara, 28, moving out of the Chelsea home she shared with Sam, 32.

Speaking on his Staying Relevant podcast on Valentine’s Day, the TV personality told his best friend and co-host Pete Wicks that the romantic holiday was the ‘longest day of the f***ing year’.

Strictly star Pete jokingly begged Zara to ‘please take Sam back’ as the reality star discussed going through ‘tough times’ and explained how he has adapted his home to allow him to ‘forget about the entire world’.

Sam said: ‘I’m so happy Valentine’s Day is over. I’m over the moon, longest day of the f***ing year, never realised how long it is before. You just don’t realise until your alone.

‘That day, I did have some time off social media, I played chess with a friend. Marvin [Humes] called me to check in, but you didn’t call me Pete.’

Sam Thompson has revealed how his I’m A Celebrity co-star Marvin Humes has supported him through his split from Zara McDermott.

It was revealed by MailOnline that the pair separated in December after five years together with Zara, 28, moving out of the Chelsea home she shared with Sam, 32.

Speaking on his Staying Relevant podcast on Valentine’s Day, the TV personality told his best friend and co-host Pete Wicks how he’d been on a ‘man date’ with Marvin.

‘The reason why you went out is really nice,’ Pete said.

Sam began: ‘He wanted to check in with me and make sure I was ok because he knew everything had been a bit s*** recently.

‘He took the time on a Monday evening to take the time away from his wife and kids to spend time with me, I almost shed a tear.’

Laughing, Sam confirmed: ‘Pete means the cats. I did have the cats round for a couple of weeks, I got given the cats.’

Sam and his ex Zara shared two cats together, Albus and Cedric.

Maura Higgins took a brutal swipe at her ‘cheating’ ex Pete Wicks as she enjoyed a Valentine’s Day night out this week

Earlier this week, MailOnline revealed Maura and Pete had decided they were ‘better off as friends’.

‘Maura and Pete have decided to call off their romance,’ an insider said.

‘There have been a few clashes and it was eventually agreed they were better off as friends.

‘Those closest to them know it’s been a very on and off relationship, which is why they were so resistant to go public in the first place. They remain close and share a deep connection.’

A friend added: ‘You never know with Maura and Pete, the attraction is so strong that you wouldn’t rule out reunion at some point – even in the short term.’

Maura entered the I’m A Celebrity jungle as a late arrival with Reverend Richard Coles, while Pete delighted BBC viewers on Strictly Come Dancing performing alongside pro dancer Jowita Przystal at the exact same time.

As soon as both shows finished, the couple finally had the chance to reunite, spending Christmas together at Glasson Lakehouse Co. Westmeath, close to Maura’s hometown in Ireland.

Speaking on a podcast interview in January, Pete expressed his fondness for Maura, explaining the pair had been supporting each other from afar from six years.

‘It’s different now. We spend more time together now than we did before. My relationship with her is that I think she’s a great person and I would hope that she thinks I’m alright.’

Pete, who reportedly grew close to dance partner Jowita on Strictly, has spoken about his difficulties with commitment, admitting settling down ‘scares’ him.

He has previously had romances with former TOWIE co-stars Megan McKenna, Shelby Tribble, Chloe Sims and Ella Rae Wise.

Maura, meanwhile, fell for Curtis Pritchard on Love Island in 2019 before dating Chris Taylor, who she met on the same series.

Following their split, Maura was in a relationship with axed Strictly professional Giovanni Pernice but they parted ways after four months.

The I’m A Celebrity! star looked incredible in a strapless red minidress, which featured a bustier neckline and a skirt made of applique roses.

The Irish TV personality posed for sultry video taken by her hairstylist pal on Instagram, pouting at the camera before bursting out laughing.
