Pete Davidson has revealed his shock new career move after stepping away from comedy amid a tough year which saw him reenter rehab.
The SNL star, 31, has been appointed creative director of New York City-based sock brand, Doublesoul.
Opening up about his reason for taking on the role he told W Magazine: ‘Everyone needs socks. Socks are an afterthought: You get a 20-pack at Foot Locker, or you’re going to the gas station and buying Barbie socks, or socks with burgers on them.’
The star said he is focusing on his mental health and wants to be known for more than just ‘dating people’. His exes include Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande and Madelyn Cline.
He said: ‘Luckily, I got hit on the face with the Hollywood shovel. It was a long time coming, and I needed it. I’m very happy where I am right now, mentally.
‘I just want to be known for doing good work. I want to be out there only when it’s movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures. That’s when I want to be seen. I don’t want to be this f*****g loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am.’

The star quit SNL in 2022 but returned as a host the following year
This comes after Davidson checked into a wellness facility to seek mental health treatment in late July.
This followed DailyMail.com exclusively revealing the Bupkis star admitted he was still using marijuana after quitting both cocaine and ketamine.
The rehab stint came after Davidson completed more than 200 live stand-up comedy shows across the country.
At the time, an insider told People that mental health has ‘always been a priority’ for him.
A separate source also told the outlet: ‘Pete will often check himself into rehab to work on these issues. His friends and family have been supportive during this time.’
He was last pictured hanging out with Machine Gun Kelly in Los Angeles in early May, and it appeared he recently completed his inpatient treatment.
Around the same time last year, Davidson also went to a rehabilitation center to treat issues related to his post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder diagnoses, both of which he previously opened up about in the past.
In 2020, Davidson starred in The King of Staten Island, a semi-autobiographical film that draws upon his struggles of coping with grief and his own childhood experiences of losing his father after 9/11.

He co-wrote the comedic drama alongside director-producer Judd Apatow and comedian Dave Sirus, basing the story partly on his own past.
In the film, which was directed by Judd Apatow, Davidson stars as Scott Carlin, a young man who spends his 20s smoking and drinking to cope with losing his father.
The story mirrors Davidson’s own life with how he decides to pursue a career in comedy.
