Pedro Pascal opened up about whether he desires to become a dad and why he keeps his private life away from the public in a vulnerable new interview.
Despite being frequently referred to as ‘the internet’s daddy’ on social media, the Materialists star, 50, admitted he hasn’t longed to become a father.
‘I’ve had dreams of taking my kids to the movies the way my parents took me,’ he quipped to Vanity Fair. ‘So I guess I want a shortcut to an interesting human being, who is my child, who will go see something that I want to see.’
As a child, the actor recalled being ruthlessly ‘bullied for being a weird, sensitive kid’ and ‘attention-hungry.’
Pascal explained he was targeted for ‘being in love with the movies and theater and art’ until his mother pulled him out of his local school system and enrolled him into a school for the arts.
Now as one of Hollywood’s most popular actors in the entertainment industry right now, the SAG Award winner admits he still battles misconceptions about him.

Pedro Pascal is fiercely protective of his private life, hiding it from the public as much as his Mandalorian character hides his face
This includes the world’s perception that he keeps details about his personal life under lock and key.
‘I always feel perplexed when I’m identified in whatever form of media as a “highly private person,” because that’s the opposite of me,’ Pascal explained.
He continued: ‘I’m very unprivate in my private life. I just know that personal relationships are such a complex thing to navigate even without having this enormous lens on them.’
In May 2023, Pascal speculated to The Hollywood Reporter that he earned the ‘daddy’ nickname from playing several father figures on screen.
‘(The daddy thing) seems a little role-related, I think. There was a period where the Mandalorian is very daddy to baby Grogu. Joel is very daddy to Ellie. These are daddy parts. That’s what it is,’ he insisted.
When asked by Jeff Bridges if he was ‘a daddy,’ Pascal playfully shot back: ‘I’m not a daddy… And I’m not going to be a daddy!’
To avoid dating rumors, he typically opts to bring his sister Lux, who is also an actress, as his plus-one to events.
The actor can currently be seen on the big screen as one of the leading men in the romantic comedy Materialists with Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans.
