Patsy Kensit appeared to be far from chilly Britain while sharing her latest social media posts on Wednesday morning.

Beleaguered Brits have suffered blanket snow, treacherous ice and below freezing conditions since the turn of the year, with conditions expected to get worse across parts of the country over the course of the week.

But Patsy, 57, had other concerns after confirming she has ditched England for distinctly warmer climes after recovering from a nasty bout of flu, and is in desperate need of some Vitamin D.

Taking to Instagram, the actress pictured herself wearing a black bikini while basking in the sunshine after jetting off for an overseas break.

Captioning the shot, she wrote: ‘I need some sun!!’

The actress appeared to be on top form after spending much of the New Year period confined to her bed through illness.

And Patsy confirmed she was over the worst of her virus while sharing a photo of her moisturized complexion, telling followers: ‘Just had a much needed facial… my flu has gone but my skin is sooooo dry .’

It was all so different last week, when Patsy, stricken with the flu, was forced to see in the New Year from home.

Sharing a photo of herself in bed on Thursday evening, she wrote: ‘Still wiped out with flu but excited about this new year… happy new year to everyone… I love you all.’

The actress appears to holidaying without her two children, sons James, 33 – from her second marriage to Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr, and Lennon, 25, from her third to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

Addressing motherhood with the HELLO! Second Act podcast in September, Patsy admitted she was codependent on her boys and struggled to accept their decision to finally leave home.

She said: ‘My son’s are incredible. Being a mother has broken my heart, because they grow and they leave.

‘I was so codependent on them to the point it wasn’t fair on them. I could sense that in them.

‘They’re 25 and 33, I mean, I had a child at that age, and so I think for a few years, I put way too much pressure on them. So watching them leave home was tough.’

She added: ‘My eldest son is pathological about his privacy. I always kept them out, away from children’s premieres, I didn’t want to open the door to them being photographed.’

The actress admitted her connection to the two boys is so strong that she would often commute to Yorkshire from her London home to film her scenes as Sadie King in ITV soap Emmerdale, to avoid uprooting their lives.

She recalled: ‘I would commute, driving to Emmerdale, ITV pulled me in at one point and was like “this is dangerous what you are doing”

‘I couldn’t have pulled them out of school and out them in one up North. I would always use the kids as an excuse like, “I have to get back to the kids.”

‘I would take James everywhere with me, but it got to the point that I couldn’t keep dragging him out of school.’
