Paloma Faith has revealed that she once gave Angelina Jolie clever underwear advice in a surprise encounter.
Appearing on The Romesh Ranganathan Show earlier this week, the singer, 44, revealed the conversation for the first time.
Paloma told the comedian that while working at the knicker shop Agent Provocateur as a sales assistant, she once served Hollywood icon Angelina.
She revealed that Angelina had been keen to purchase underwear but was frustrated to see it was hand wash only – and Paloma gave her some advice which encouraged her to make the purchase.
Paloma told Angelina that she could easily hand wash the underwear by ‘rubbing soap on the gussets in the bath’.
She said: ‘When I was working at Agent Provocateur, the knicker shop, I once served Angelina Jolie.

‘And she was reluctant to buy the underwear because she looked in the label and it said hand wash only. She said “Oh that’s a pain, I’ve got to hand wash all this underwear”.
‘And I said “What you want to do Angelina is when you go in the bath, stick it in the bath, rub soap in the gussets, rub the gussets to give it a good clean, wash it in the bath water and then hang it on the radiator and by the morning it will be dry and you can wear it again and it’s been hand washed”.’
Paloma added: ‘And she thought it was so shocking that a shop assistant had just told her, the goddess of all things, to just wash her gussets with a bar of soap that she couldn’t stop laughing.
‘But she bought so much underwear and she said she loved me. It’s good advice for anyone who’s worried about hand washing knickers.’
You rub the gussets together?’ comedian Romesh asked, to which Paloma replied: ‘Yeah you just put a bar of soap in and do that.’
Earlier this year, Paloma revealed that she ‘nearly died’ during a violent attack at the hands of an ex when she was younger.
She opened up about the horrifying ordeal on her podcast Mad Sad Bad in June, where she was joined by Ruby Wax.
Paloma shared that she was left with a black eye and ‘smashed up’ face after an ex-partner tried to run her off the run in a high-speed car chase before smashing her window and pulling her out of it.

The star got an injunction out against the man following the ‘very violent’ attack – but she ran into him seven years in a bizarre twist of fate.
Making her way to work at an underwear shop, Paloma saw her ex waving at her and she agreed to go for a last drink – but as she discussed ‘taking back the power’ following an assault, Paloma said she left him stunned when she said she found his chat boring and walked out.
Paloma said the moment made her feel as though she had ‘conquered’ something as she healed from the ordeal.
Recalling the attack, Paloma said: ‘This guy, when I was younger, attacked me very, very, very violently, and I nearly died.
‘It was a high speed car chase, and he tried to run me off the road. He’s an ex, and I nearly died.
‘He drove his car into the front of somebody’s house, and he came and smashed my driver’s side window in and pulled me out, but I got a black eye and a smashed up face, and then I got an injunction against him.’
Paloma continued: ‘Seven years later, I saw him. I was going to my job when I worked in the knicker shop, dressed all like, you know, knickery in the little pink outfit – feeling quite confident in the uniform.
‘And I see this man drive past, and he goes, and then he gets out, and then he says, “Can I take you for a drink after work? I feel like we need to clear it up.” I said, “Yeah, I’d like to go.”
‘So I went for a drink and I let him speak. I didn’t say very much, and I asked him some questions. His answers were kind of boring.
‘And then I just said, “I’m gonna go now.” And he said, “why?” I said, “I find you quite boring”.’
