Paloma Faith, 44, Shares Pregnancy News with New Boyfriend Stevie Thomas After Split from Leyman Lahcine

Paloma Faith has finally found happiness with boyfriend Stevie Thomas after the singer announced they were expecting their first child together on Friday.

The songstress, 44, who has been dating the ‘posh’ managing director of venue The JamHouse, for a year, admitted she was finally considering marriage, following her ‘devastating’ split from long term partner Leyman Lahcine.

Paloma married the French artist, 37, with whom she shares two young daughters, in 2017, before confirming they had parted ways in 2022 after nine years, leaving the hitmaker suffering a nervous breakdown.

She then went public with Stevie in March this year as they put on a loved-up display at the Sony Music BRITs afterparty.

A source said at the time: ‘Paloma and Stevie are absolutely head over heels for each other but she’s been telling people it also feels like her healthiest relationship ever.

‘He’s 6ft6 and she loves how he towers over her.

They told The Sun: ‘It’s sexy and exciting but he’s also very in touch with his feelings and a great communicator. It’s like they are kindred spirits and they’re in it for the long term.’

Paloma first opened up about her new boyfriend after Vogue Williams confronted her for calling Spencer Matthews ‘posh’.

The hilarious exchange happened on the singer’s Mad, Sad and Bad podcast when she asked the model, 40, what attracted her to ‘the multimillionaire hunk’.

Vogue then revealed that her husband Spencer, 37, told her that Paloma ‘kept slagging him for being posh.’

Paloma said: ‘Yeah, but I’ve now got a posh boyfriend. Now I’m dating one – I’m sleeping with the enemy.’

The singer, who has spoken candidly about her working-class upbringing in Hackney, London, then apologised to listeners about her choice of lover.

She joked: ‘I’m thinking of it more like a social experiment.’

Paloma has also revealed that her new love has made her finally consider marriage after previously always being totally against it.

She has now told for the first time how serious her relationship has become with her new man, as she revealed they had been dating for nearly a year.

Speaking on Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo’s Newly Weds podcast in March, Paloma said: ‘This is a strange thing.

‘I wasn’t married to my kids’ dad and I’ve always been someone that’s very anti-marriage, because the history of it is that it’s about ownership of women and I’m the child of a feminist.

‘Weirdly, I don’t know what’s changed in me, but this guy gives me a bit like “Oh well”‘.

She continued: ‘I remember when I met him I was like “I’m never going to get married, don’t ever ask me”.

‘And then over time now I’m like “Yeah I don’t know, I’ll keep an open mind.” I can just feel myself softening.

‘If my mum hears this she’ll be like “What the hell is going on with you? Is it a mid-life crisis?'”

‘I do think having kids with someone is stronger than marriage from experience.’

However Paloma insisted she would only marry her financial equal and would want to ensure her assets were carefully protected.

She explained: ‘I also think I wouldn’t really want to get married to somebody unless I could genuinely think it was properly forever and it was equal and balanced, and I didn’t have that in my (former) relationship.

‘I felt I had too much to lose to him if it didn’t work out. Just like financially.

‘I would have given up my kids’ inheritance. I just was like ‘I’ve got to protect what’s mine and what’s my kids’. If I ever did do it, I would have a prenup’.

Paloma revealed that she had a ‘nervous breakdown’ following her split from Leyman and said that she finds it hard to look back on that period in her life because she was ‘so broken’ and ‘full of guilt and shame’ over the end of their relationship.

Speaking about her relationship with her ex-partner now, Paloma told The Sun last year: ‘I was so broken, honestly – I think I had a nervous breakdown.

‘I was so broken that my brain didn’t even work in that way of being conscious. It is difficult for me to remember much of it because I was so sad and full of guilt and shame.’

Despite her heartbreak, Paloma star was determined to maintain an amicable relationship with her ex for the sake of their children.

She said: ‘You have to see your ex all the time. You can’t just say, ”This is too painful”.

‘We are conflict-adverse so we were both quick to try and be amicable and, as with most things in life, if you pretend it for long enough it becomes true.’

She admitted the breakup was ‘the worst thing that’s ever happened to me in my life’.

Speaking on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Paloma confirmed she and Leyman are still in touch, but sometimes the conversations can be ‘harrowing’ – describing the separation as ‘devastating’, yet ‘liberating’.

Paloma used the grieving process of the relationship as inspiration for her new album The Glorification of Sadness and its lead single How You Leave A Man.

She said: ‘It’s about the worst breakup I’ve ever had, because it’s the longest relationship I’ve ever had, and we obviously had two kids together, so it’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.

‘I couldn’t ignore it when I was writing, but also the most private I feel about it because there’s kids involved, so it’s weird but I’m hoping the songs speak for themselves.

‘I’m not mincing my words, am I, when I’m doing a song called How You Leave A Man? It’s like, “Oh I wonder what it’s about.” But I find it liberating.

‘I feel like the whole album, when you go from start to finish, it’s basically chronicling the stages of grief and it goes from the self destructive moments to the insular moments to the really vulnerable moments and actually the kind of unusual bits for me as a female artist are the empowered moments.’

Paloma described the breakup as ‘devastating’ and told how supporting messages from her fans online feel like a form of therapy.

She said: ‘I think quite often, people sing about heartbreak and remorse and stuff but they never sing about empowerment, so I feel like that’s important as a feminist.’

‘So, it’s sort of the acceptance that all of these stages of recovery from massive life changing events are acceptable and you have to love and appreciate yourself.

‘I think for me, what I’m really enjoying about it, is that even though it’s been devastating and hard and all that, through the campaign I’m managing to sprinkle a bit of humour.

‘Oh lets laugh in the face of adversity, it’s quite a sort of camp response to tragedy.

‘But I feel like that in itself is helpful to me. It’s kind of group therapy when I go online and people are like, ‘yes, girl!’

She said: ‘I’m still friends with my ex because we have to be, because we’ve got two children.

‘I’ve had moments where we’ve been speaking and it’s been really harrowing, deconstructing what went wrong and everything and then I look up at him and we’re both just cracking up!

‘We’re like, “Is this inappropriate? Oh god!” The other day I was like, “Do I look really ugly because I’ve been crying so much?” and he was just like, ‘Yeah, you look hideous.”

‘But I find it so helpful that we’re both on that sort of same page. He’s just like, ‘yeah, appalling.’ It’s just destruction!’

‘I don’t know if I believe in happy endings, but I suppose subconsciously we’re fed them all the time. Aren’t we? Like, as kids and in fairy stories and stuff.

Paloma announced she was 18 weeks pregnant as she shared her surprise news in an Instagram post on Friday.
