This Morning fans were left divided when Paddy McGuinness hosted Thursday’s show alongside Alison Hammond.
The comedian, 50, stood in for Dermot O’Leary more than a decade after he first presented the ITV programme.
His appearance comes after a string of his BBC gigs were cancelled, including Top Gear and A Question Of Sport, with the presenter admitting his ‘money has run out.’
Watching the show some viewers hailed Alison and Paddy ‘the best paring’ whilst others claimed they were ‘the worst’ combination.
Sharing their thoughts to X, one person wrote: ‘Paddy is like that boyfriend you dumped because he was a nightmare but you can’t resist because he still makes you laugh.’

Another added: Just the best pairing Paddy and Alison
A third person questioned: ‘Might I suggest that Paddy McGuinness would be a good choice as main host of the programme?’
‘Paddy has brought joy to my morning. He would be a great addition to the show! Would rather see him with Cat!!!’ someone else agreed.
But not all viewers were quite so enthusiastic, with one fan writing: ‘Paddy McGuinness on this morning! You really have no idea ITV #ThisMorning. Who on this earth did you think that Paddy McGuinness appealed too!’
‘Oh no Alison and Paddy are just the worst, another agreed.
Hitting back someone else responded: ‘Reading all the negativity and nastiness is draining. I, for one, am enjoying Paddy presenting, I love Alison, and the puppy is, of course, gorgeous. Fed up of moaners. If you don’t like it, turn over or off.’
It comes after Paddy admitted his ‘money has run out’ as he reveals he plans to return to stand up comedy for the first time in six years.
The presenter made the tour announcement following the news that the show he co-hosted, Top Gear, was being axed after Freddie Flintoff’s crash.

Paddy admitted that he has spent a fair chunk of his cash and he plans to ‘build it back up’ by going back on the comedy circuit.
The comedian shared the revelation during an appearance on Wednesday’s This Morning with Emma Willis and Rylan Clark.
When asked why he decided on the tour, Paddy said: ‘Erm, well the money’s run out now so it took about eight years to spend it all and I’m like, ‘I’ve got to build it back up’.
‘So weirdly, writing a tour does take a lot of your time. When we had the break from Top Gear, I’d been planning it for a long time, I went, ‘There’s a window there’.’
Paddy announced the news of his tour earlier this week on his Instagram page, telling fans: ‘I’ve been itching to tell you this!
‘After a six year break I’m finally back on Tour!!! Paddy McGuinness – Nearly There. All pre ticket sale links in my Bio. See you in the New Year… live!!!!’
Last month, Paddy thanked fans ‘for the love’ after the BBC said the hit series will be off air for the ‘foreseeable future’.
His ‘goodbye’ message came amid fears the programme’s insurance costs have become unsustainable following Flintoff’s crash.
The show’s production has been halted since host Flintoff, 45, was taken to hospital in December 2022 after being badly hurt in an accident at the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey.
Following the crash, the BBC announced that it would pause production on the show, co-presented by Take Me Out host Paddy McGuinness and automotive journalist Chris Harris, as it was felt it would be ‘inappropriate’, adding there would be a health and safety review.

And after the BBC’s announcement to ‘rest’ the show for the foreseeable future, Paddy posted a gallery of images on Instagram starting with a picture of the trio in white Top Gear outfits.
He wrote the caption: ‘We were always going to be b*****s but we were your b******s.
‘Thanks for all the love over the years folks, it was very much appreciated.’
Fans wished them all the best, telling them they would be missed.
