One Tree Hill star reveals she dated Jerry Seinfeld years before starring on his hit sitcom

One Tree Hill star Barbara Alyn Woods revealed that she previously dated Jerry Seinfeld before guest starring on his hit sitcom. 

The actress, 63 – who is currently dating former Golden Bachelorette contestant Mark Anderson – recalled the brief romance during Thursday’s episode of the Drama Queens podcast. 

Woods made an appearance on Seinfeld in season six for a 1995 episode titled The Scofflaw – and played a character named Debby who went on a date with George (Jason Alexander). 

‘I played someone going out [on a date] with Jason Alexander,’ Barbara explained before asking, ‘You wanna hear some dirt? I used to date someone from that show.’ 

The hosts of the podcast – who are also fellow One Tree Hill stars Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, Bethany Joy Lenz and Robert Buckley – guessed who it could have been, such as co-creator Larry David and Michael Richards (Kramer). 

Woods then shared that it was Jerry and explained, ‘I met him at a comedy club, and it was before he was Seinfeld. He did stand up and [we] even watched the pilot together when he had done the pilot.’

She further recalled Seinfeld asking her if she wanted to watch a preview of the pilot episode of the NBC sitcom ahead of its premiere on the network. 

Barbara was then questioned about the romance and whether the comedian was a ‘fun hang.’ 

Woods expressed, ‘He was very serious about being funny. I think a lot of comedians are that way – So serious people [and] not what you’d expect. [He was] super smart and intelligent and so nice to fans.’ 

Following the end of their relationship, both stars stayed on good terms and she eventually landed a small role on Seinfeld for one episode. 

The actress told the hosts, ‘We ended up being friends. And then I ended up doing the show after we dated.’ 

Jerry went on to tie the knot with his wife Jessica in 1999 and the couple share three children: Sascha, 24, Julian, 22, and Shepherd, 18. 

Woods was also previously married to film producer John Lind but their divorce was revealed last year in May. The pair are also parents to Natalie, 24, Emily, 22, and Alyvia, 17. 

Barbara and Lind first crossed paths on set of the television series: Honey, I Shrunk The Kids – which aired from 1997 through 2000.

Their children have followed in their entertainment footsteps, with all three having notable experience in front of the camera.

Woods and Lind’s eldest daughter, Natalie, is known for appearing in the series The Goldbergs as well as Pet Sematary: Bloodlines.

Emily has also starred in the ABC series, Revenge, as well as the HBO Max’s Gossip Girl. The youngest, Alyvia, began acting at a young age as well, and appeared in the soap opera The Young And The Restless.

The teenager also had the chance to star alongside her mother in the horror comedy series, Chucky.

Barbara has since sparked up a romance with former Golden Bachelorette contestant Mark Anderson. 

Last year, fans were left stunned when Joan Vassos eliminated Anderson from the ABC series. 

The actress was first linked with the TV personality last year in October and his daughter is notably Kelsey Anderson who starred on The Bachelor in the past. 

During the Drama Queens podcast episode this week, Barbara shared that she had a crush on Mark when she watched him on Bachelor Nation.

‘Mark was there being all cute and dimpley and sweet. He’s just in the background. He’s the dad.’

Woods then made the decision to message Anderson on social, although he did not immediately respond due to filming the Golden Bachelorette at the time.   

However, he later reached out to her and Barbara gushed that it has ‘been nonstop ever since. He’s such a good guy. Just have to get used to being with good people. Like, he’s a good guy.’

And during an interview with E! News last month in February, Kelsey opened up about her father’s relationship with Woods. 

‘I think that she saw him on the show and was like, “I need to meet him,”‘ she said of Barbara. 

‘They would just talk on the phone and then finally, once my dad was in L.A., he took her to dinner. And it’s been googly eyes ever since,’ Kelsey continued and then added, ‘I feel like they love each other.’ 

Mark is also father to four children – including Kelsey who became engaged to Joey Graziadei on The Bachelor last year. 

The TV personality explained that the actress has gotten close to Mark’s children and shared, ‘She’s super, super awesome. I really just think that she brings out the best in my dad.’

Barbara is also known for her role as Deb Scott in the hit show, One Tree Hill, which aired for a total of nine seasons.

Other stars that appeared in the series included Chad Michael Murray, Sophia Bush, James Lafferty, Hilarie Burton and also Bethany Joy Lenz.

Last year in February, Woods revealed that the cast of One Tree Hill was ‘all on board’ for a reunion.

She told Entertainment Tonight, ‘We all kept in touch – unlike other shows where they say “We’re family, we’re going to keep in touch,” we actually have.

‘I have no idea what’s going on, but if there wasn’t some sort of like spinoff or something, I would be so surprised,’ the mother-of-three admitted.

‘Because we’re all on board, we’re all friends, it would be the most fun show anybody has ever been on.’

Although the series ended back in 2012, the show is still popular among viewers on streaming sites such as Hulu and Amazon Prime Video.

‘I feel very fortunate. Not only has the show had this major resurgence – I actually think it’s bigger now than it was when it aired. We just need to keep going, this thing is not going to die.’

She also recalled her daughters being on set with her while filming and said her co-stars, ‘know my kids – because they grew up on set. I actually had Aly during One Tree Hill,’ referring to her youngest child.

Barbara later shared that if a revival of the series came about: ‘I’m just saying this – this is such a cliché thing to say, but I would love for all three of my girls to be on the show.’
