Olivia Munn shared that she felt ‘really nervous’ filming sex scenes with Mad Men hunk with Jon Hamm in their new Apple TV+ series, Your Friends and Neighbors.
The actress, 44, who underwent a double mastectomy following her breast cancer diagnosis last year, said that the scars from her surgeries made her self-conscious during intimate scenes.
‘I was really nervous about doing any sex scenes because I have a lot of scars,’ she said in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times published on Friday.
‘Scars that can be seen in clothing and scars that you wouldn’t know unless I was completely nude.
Despite her nerves, Munn, who underwent her final of five surgeries just days before she began filming, pushed through as she felt that the scenes were ‘crucial’ to understanding the dynamic between her and Hamm’s, 54, characters.
‘I wanted the sex scenes to feel like sex scenes — I wanted them to feel visceral and intense and not hold back at all,’ she shared.

The Predator star plays Samantha ‘Sam’ Levitt, a divorcee who is having an affair with recently fired hedge fund manager Andrew ‘Coop’ Cooper (played by Hamm) in Jonathan Tropper’s nine-episode drama.
Munn shared that an intimacy coordinator helped her make the process easier.
‘I did feel insecure, but each time I did it, I felt better,’ she said.
‘My character is wanting something more from Jon’s character,’ Olivia recently said in an interview with People.
‘But the only thing she’s getting from him at this point is this sexual relationship…So it’s really important that we really feel how much she’s leaning on this and trying to really, like, connect with him through these moments.’
Munn explained that there was ‘a lot of discussion’ ahead of time between herself, Hamm, and Tropper, as well as intimacy coordinators Lizzy Talbot and Crista Marie Jackson in order to choreograph the love scenes more authentically.
‘My character has to bite him,’ the half-Vietnamese beauty noted.
‘I was nervous and he just kept saying, “It’s okay. You can bite really hard.” And then I did. And he’s a pretty tough guy. He’s a very tough guy!’
