Olivia Molly Rogers Apologizes for Change Room Controversy: ‘I Won’t Do That Again’

Olivia Molly Rogers has apologised to fans after sharing a video showing her using an accessible changing room.

The former Miss Universe Australia, 33, took to Instagram on Thursday to share the offending clip, shot at the airport, which she since removed after receiving backlash.

Returning to the social media platform hours later, a repentant Olivia said she made a huge mistake.

‘I have just removed my reel and I want to apologise for my ignorance,’ Olivia wrote on an Instagram story.

‘I used one of the accessible adult change rooms at the airport earlier today, thinking they were okay for anyone needing privacy to change.

Continuing, Olivia added that her error was quickly pointed out by followers who sent her private messages about the faux pas.

‘I was under the impression that it was okay to use, as it’s labelled as an adult changing room, but a few people kindly messaged me to explain that these changing spaces are designed specifically for people with disabilities or complex-care needs,’ she added.

‘They are often locked and you need an access key (to stop able-bodied people, like me, from using them and taking up the space.)’

She rounded out the post admitting that she had seen the error of her ways, while thanking followers for pointing out the mistake.

‘I completely understand why it’s so important to keep them free,’ Olivia wrote.

‘Totally my mistake – and I really appreciate those that took the time to explain it to me in a kind way. I won’t be doing that again.’

It comes after Olivia made a tearful confession about her wedding day with ex-husband Justin McKeone.

Appearing on the Inherited podcast this week, Olivia admitted her mother, Nicky Klemich, warned her in February 2022 that she ‘didn’t have to go through with it’.

‘She was the only person who knew just how scared I was that day. I didn’t know if I was doing the right thing,’ Olivia said.

‘She didn’t think I was doing the right thing. The wedding was on a Saturday, my Mum had flown from Adelaide to be there for the whole week.’

Olivia broke down as she added there was a heated moment between her and Justin, which saw her mother finally intervene and ask her to call off the wedding.

‘Something happened which finally crossed boundaries for me, and Mum was there in the morning. She said to me, “We can call the wedding off,”‘ Olivia revealed.

However, Olivia added by that point she felt it was too late to back out and went ahead with the wedding, against her mother’s advice.

‘By then, I was literally going to go pick up the wedding dress and I was getting messages from friends saying, “I have just landed in Melbourne, so excited to be here”,’ she said.

‘I felt if I was to call it off I wouldn’t just be letting myself down, it would be everyone who was coming.

‘I cared about the money they would lose, everybody had booked flights and accommodation and put so much into that day. I just felt like I couldn’t. I’m really grateful to my Mum who made it clear she would support me if I called it off.’

Olivia confirmed her split from finance expert Justin in October 2022, just eight months after they tied the knot.

Break-up rumours began swirling in September that year, after fans noticed she’d reverted to her maiden name on Instagram and unpinned all photos from her February wedding.

The former couple, who met in 2018, were last pictured together in August 2022, in a series of loved-up holiday snaps from their trip to New York City.

The Adelaide-born model addressed her break-up on social media in October 2022.

‘After 4.5 years together, Justin and I have come to the difficult decision to separate as a couple,’ she wrote.

‘Please respect our decision and privacy at this time.’
