Olivia Dean Superfan Goes to Great Lengths for Sydney Harbour Show

UK pop star Olivia Dean wowed fans on Thursday night for a special one-off outdoor show by Sydney’s famous harbour.

And one devotee of the 26-year-old Man I Need hitmaker used a kayak to get a closer look at the sold out gig from the water’s edge.

A video shared to TikTok by Phoebellevine shows the intrepid superfan paddling towards Olivia’s stage, which was built on a barge at the foot of the Royal Botanic Gardens.

The clip, which has been viewed by 168.9K users, shows the female Olivia fan paddling past several boats anchored near the show, which was located at the well-known tourist spot, Mrs Macquarie’s Chair.

No security appeared to stop the kayaker as she approached the concert area. 

‘Genius move,’ said one TikToker on the thread, which has attracted 22.5K heart emoji ‘likes’.

‘I hope Olivia sees this,’ added another, while a third user said: ‘I would absolutely have done this. #respect.’

Concertgoers were rapt by Olivia’s show which included such fan favourites as Nice To Each Other, UFO and Echo.   

It comes after the Brit pop sensation turned heads on the red carpet for the ARIA Awards in Sydney on Wednesday.

Olivia ensured all eyes were on her in a strapless black gown that featured a textured bodice and billowing skirt.

She broke up her all-black look with a statement white rose worn on her corset, and kept her accessories to a minimum, wearing a simple bracelet and matching earrings.

The British superstar let her natural beauty shine through on the day, opting for a neutral makeup palette to highlight her stunning features.

The buzz around the singer-songwriter continued into the ceremony as the Grammy nominee was the only international act to grace the ARIAs stage at the Hordern Pavilion.

The star, who will appear on the cover of Vogue Australia in December, began writing songs at the tender age of 16, and taught herself to play guitar and piano.

The prodigious talent released her debut single Reason To Stay in 2018, and dropped two EPs in 2019 and 2020.

In 2021, she was named breakthrough artist of the year by Amazon Music and achieved a number 19 spot on the UK singles chart with her cover of Nat King Cole’s Christmas Song.

The soul singer released her second album The Art Of Loving in September this year, which featured the breakout international hit Man I Need.

Aside from her musical endeavours, the songstress is branching out into the world of fashion and beauty as a brand ambassador for Chanel.

Olivia has also been announced as the face of Burberry’s Her fragrance, with a campaign launching in 2026.
