Oasis Tour Secrets: Sobriety, Mystery Messages, Charity, Heirlooms & More!

In recent months, the music and showbusiness worlds have been dominated by the historic reunion of Britpop icons Oasis.

Kicking off their £400m comeback tour earlier this month, the formerly warring Gallagher brothers have lit up the stage in the throes of the 41 date show, which kicked off in Cardiff ahead of shows in UK, Ireland, Australia, the US and Mexico.

After a year of eager anticipation, fans have been delighted by the shows thus far.

Behind the dazzling performances have been a number of off-stage secrets that have kept things running smoothly to avoid Liam and Noel, aged 52 and 58 respectively, starting their feud once again.

Unbeknownst to fans, a number of tour secrets have been bubbling in the back – including charitable giving, party planning and a nepo-baby’s surprise low-key rider.

Additionally, the stage has been home to an uncharacteristically tender moment while family heirlooms have also been spotted behind the scenes.

HIDDEN MESSAGES

Last week, the group performed a sold-out 80,000 strong crowd in their home city of Manchester for night one of their five sold out shows at Heaton Park.

However there was a touching hidden message in the set that perhaps not all fans will have noticed. During the show Liam paid a special tribute to his rescue dog Buttons after his face was projected as part of the light show.

Liam rescued the dog from the charity Happy Doggo in Thailand in 2023 and now Thailand dog rescuer Niall Harbison has revealed the full story behind the adoption.

Taking to Twitter after the performance in Manchester he penned: ‘Most people were probably looking at @liamgallagher and @oasis last night on stage. Look a little closer and you’ll spot a dog called Buttons.’

Explaining Buttons’ story he continued: ‘Buttons was a little puppy who walked into our sanctuary in Thailand in the middle of the jungle just as it was getting built. She had been abandoned. She kept coming back daily for food and hoping for company.

‘Day after day Buttons came back. I eventually took her in and put her up for adoption.

‘Little did I know but Liam and his partner Debbie had been following. After a long process she was adopted to them in the UK. Buttons has grown into a beloved member of the family and landed on her paws.’

Last year Liam flew Buttons with his family on a private jet make sure he was able to join the Gallaghers on their summer holiday to France.

THE BIG FINALE

New reports have revealed that Liam and Noel are ‘planning to splash £200,000 on a huge party’ following their shows in London.

After 16 years, Oasis have finally reunited for 41 shows across Europe, including seven gigs in London, with the first on July 25 and the final one on September 28.

And the brothers will reportedly throw the ultimate bash in September to celebrate the completion of the first part of their reunion tour with their celebrity pals.

A source told The Sun: ‘Liam and Noel are staying away from the booze and parties during the tour to protect their voices.

‘They are looking forward to catching up with pals in September following the success of the tour. There will be no expense spared and guests with an invitation can expect to be given the VIP treatment.’

EASY RIDER

While Liam and Noel’s riders are unknown, the former’s son Gene has been supporting the band with his group Villanelle.

The nepo-baby, 24, is one of many acts to warm up the crowds before the show and while he is in a coveted position, he is certainly no diva.

In an interview with The Face with 2024, the singer revealed his down to earth requirements, which include Birds Eye fish fingers and premium lager.

Following a small local gig nin Nottingham, he said: ‘For these shows, it’s usually just beer they give us. But for the Definitely Maybe shows, I’m gonna get some fish finger sandwiches on there.

‘I’m craving those. The proper orange, Birds Eye ones – with ketchup. And some premium lagers – Asahi.’

HEIRLOOM

Gene’s rider was not the only newsworthy detail of his appearance on the tour.

Liam’s son revealed he was wearing a ‘family heirloom’ on-stage in the form of a Burberry jacket taken from his father’s 90s wardrobe.

Gene shared an image from backstage in which he posed with brother Lennon, 25, his cousins Anais, 25, Donovan, 17 and Sonny, 14, and Pep Guardiola – before an eagle-eyed superfan spotted the garment.

The fan penned: ‘Is that ya dad’s Maine Road top’, in reference to the jacket Liam wore on stage at Oasis’ April 1996 gig in Manchester’s Maine Road.

He responded: ‘The exact one. It’s a family heirloom.’

Another user then wrote: ‘If I’m not wrong my mate was the manager and worked in Ath-Leisure (owned by JD Sports) store in the Arndale Manchester and sold this to your dad just before Night 1 Maine Rd…..always wondered if it was kept.’

CHARITABLE GIVING

While there was scandal surrounding the price of tickets, Noel has proved he is willing to give back as he is giving a chunk of the profits to charity.

A source said: ‘It’s no secret that Noel and Liam are both making millions from the reunion tour. But Noel is actually giving some of his cash away…

‘He’s made it clear a large donation will be heading to Teenage Cancer Trust from his share of the proceeds.’

BOOZE FREE

In January, it was revealed Liam will be sober throughout the summer months to make sure the reunion gigs all go off without any issues.

Liam seems to be taking the comeback very seriously as he has already started getting fit and cutting out alcohol ready to take to the stage for the shows.

The singer is planning not to booze during the shows after previously admitting he stopped drinking on stage after his erratic performance with Oasis at Wembley in 2000.

This performance is often cited as one of the band’s worst as Liam’s inebriation affected his singing and stage presence.

A source told The Sun: ‘Liam’s just returned from a boozy holiday and now plans to be in lock-down for the foreseeable to focus on getting fit for the tour.

‘He is planning on being sober ahead of and on tour with Oasis. He’s actually used cutting out booze to help him prepare and also to get through the shows before.’

KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

It has been reported that lengths have been taken to ensure the pair remain amiable – by working to keep them separate while not performing.

The Gallaghers will reportedly be kept apart when not on stage in a ‘military style operation’ during their much-anticipated reunion tour.

There will be separate dressing rooms and transport to avoid a clash and resulting ‘PR and financial nightmare’.
