National Television Awards viewers were left baffled on Wednesday after a category winner was accidentally revealed.
As the nominees for Reality Competition were being read out, a photo of Corrie stare Peter Ash as Paul Foreman erroneously popped up on-screen.
Paul would go on to win Serial Drama Performance for his portrayal of Paul in Coronation Street, who died of motor neurone disease in scenes aired this week.
However, long before his powerful speech, his image appeared on the live broadcast, along with his name and soap, albeit without any mention he would win.
Confused viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to write: ‘Did anyone else see a random picture of Billy and Paul pop up #NTA’;

‘Why did Billy and Paul just randomly come up on my telly when watching the NTA #NTAs’;
‘Wtf was the random Billy and Paul from Corrie still just then #NTA.’
Peter was up against David Neilson, who has played Roy Cropper on Coronation Street for almost three decades, Angela Wynter and Diane Parish from EastEnders, and Eden Taylor-Draper (Emmerdale).
His character Paul lost his battle against Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the most common form of motor neurone disease, on Monday.
The NHS describes motor neurone disease (MND) as: ‘An uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves. It causes weakness that gets worse over time.’
In the months leading up to Paul’s death, he slowly lost his mobility and even his ability to consume food and has seen him become housebound.
His final storyline involved his husband Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank, whom Peter heartily thanked in his speech) who is left panicking when he loses his phone on a night out.
Due to this, Billy does not make it to the hospital before Paul dies, but his mother makes the decision to pretend Paul is still alive so Billy can talk to him one last time.
