Nirvana take to the stage with Post Malone for SNL50 gig – in Dave Grohl’s second performance since his cheating scandal

Nirvana took to the stage with Post Malone for a performance at SNL50: The Homecoming Concert in New York City on Valentine’s Day – marking Dave Grohl’s second time on stage since his cheating scandal.

Dave, 56, joined Krist Novoselic, 59, and Pat Smear, 65, as the surviving members of pioneering grunge band Nirvana as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for SNL.

It’s the second time Dave has reunited with his bandmates in two weeks, after the group performed a four-song set at the Fire Aid concert in Los Angeles last month.

Now, he returned to the stage for the second time after he revealed he cheated on his wife Jordyn Blum and fathered a secret love child late last year.

The band were joined by Post Malone who took on the job of vocals, after he live-streamed a 15-song performance of Nirvana covers during the pandemic.

The Better Now hitmaker seemed to fit right in as he lead a rendition of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Foo Fighters rocker Dave shocked fans in September when he confessed to cheating on Jordyn, 48, and welcoming a baby girl with an as-yet unnamed woman – revealing he was fighting to regain the trust of Jordyn and their three daughters.

Weeks later, Dave hired a divorce lawyer but quickly called it off in the hopes of ‘working things out’ with Jordyn, who he’s been married to for 21 years.

The singer was photographed in the passenger’s seat of Jordyn’s black BMW on Sunday, February 9, as she drove them around Los Angeles.

The Nirvana alum, wearing a black baseball cap and black T-shirt, looked tense as he and Blum appeared to have a serious discussion inside the car.

The mother-of-three kept sunglasses over her eyes and didn’t appear to be wearing her wedding ring as she spoke to her husband.

Dave was uncharacteristically silent behind the drum kit during the band’s performance last month, leaving the introductions to Novoselic as he performed for the first time since the news broke.

His daughter Violet Grohl, 18, filled in for the late Kurt Cobain on All Apologies off the band’s seminal 1993 album In Utero — months after it was reported she was not on speaking terms with her famous father.

Dave was choked up as he drummed along to the song while watching his eldest daughter performing for the sold out and enraptured crowd.

Along with Violet, Dave, and his wife Jordyn — who wed back in 2003 — share daughters Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10.

In his cheating confession, which he published to social media on September 10, Dave directly addressed his family while revealing to fans that he is now father to a baby girl, who was conceived outside of his marriage to Jordyn.

‘I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter,
born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her,’ Dave announced to his 1.4 million followers on Instagram.

‘I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.’

He concluded: ‘We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together,’ he concluded the brief post.

Dave did not share any information about his fourth child’s mother in the post.

Following his announcement that he had fathered a secret love child, his two older daughters both took down their social media accounts.

Days later his alleged relationship with porn publisher Annaliese Nielsen, 40, was brought to light, with her former friends telling DailyMail.com that she had a 15-year affair with the front man.

Jordyn reportedly ‘turned a blind eye’ to Dave’s behavior throughout their 21-year marriage.

‘Close friends believe she has turned a blind eye to Dave’s indiscretions for a long time,’ the insider told DailyMail.com at the time.

‘Now he has humiliated her in front of the world with his baby bombshell, she can no longer hide behind the facade of a perfect marriage.’

It was also rumored that Dave had been arguing with Jordyn over her ‘flirty’ relationship with her married tennis coach Christopher Crabb, in what insiders claimed was an attempt to detract from his own indiscretions.

‘Dave Grohl has been jealous for ages about Jordyn’s hot tennis coach,’ an insider previously told DailyMail.com.

‘They’ve had arguments about him, and Dave thinks they’ve flirted. Jordyn has told him he’s crazy to even think that. But Dave has persisted.’

Weeks after declaring in his Instagram admission that he was ‘doing everything’ he could to ‘regain [his family’s] trust,’ it was alleged that Dave  had retained a divorce lawyer prior to going public with the cheating scandal.

However, he walked back the decision in November, with a source telling PEOPLE that Dave wants to ‘work things out’ with Blum and that, for now, divorce is off the table.

They said: ‘He’s no longer working with a divorce attorney and instead hoping to work things out with his wife’.

A second insider said the star ‘loves his family’ adding: ‘Dave’s been prioritizing his family. He knows he messed up. 

‘It’s one of those situations where you don’t realize what you have until you’re about to lose it. He doesn’t want to lose his family.’

The sources also alleged that Jordyn had known about Dave’s baby ‘for a while’ and said she is a ‘great mom and very dedicated to their daughters.’

In another apparent sign that Dave and Jordyn may be trying to salvage their relationship, a source revealed to PEOPLE in December that the couple and their daughters spent Christmas ‘as a family.’

‘They are all spending Christmas as a family,’ the insider said.
