Eamonn Holmes reveals struggle amid health woes

Eamonn Holmes proudly shared a snap of himself standing unaided amid his recent health woes to Instagram on Sunday.

The presenter, 64, who revealed last week that he needed carers to help with ‘simple things’, uses a wheelchair due to chronic back pain as well as undergoing painful physio sessions.

Speaking in January he said the ‘harsh reality’ could be that he may never be able to walk unaided again.

But Eamonn has now shared a photo of himself dressed smartly and stood of his own volition leaning against a door frame as his rehabilitation continues.

He captioned the post: ‘Hard to stand up but next my aim is to walk . Off to a birthday party today . What about you?’.

Eamonn spoke about needing carers to help him while hosting GB News alongside Ellie Costello, who replaced usual presenter Isabel Webster last week.

The presenting pair were joined by two guests, Polly and Michelle, to discuss Thursday’s General Election.

Michelle, who is a care support worker, said she would like to bring Keir Starmer, Rishi Sunak and Nigel Farage with her on a day to work so they can see what she does as part of her job.

‘I’m not finishing at 6pm on a Friday afternoon. I’m working 60 hours a week for £12.50 an hour,’ she said.

Eamonn replied: ‘I just want to say – what you do, I have been basically disabled for a year and a half or so and I have to have a career to do the smallest simplest things and it’s humiliating and humbling – but thank goodness that carers are available.’

In 2016, Eamonn underwent a double-hip replacement operation lasting three-and-a-quarter hours after living with acute pain for many years.

Speaking about his operation at the time, Eamonn said: ‘ Was I nervous? No! It was just like being on television. In the build-up I was stressed — can I do this? Will I handle it?’

Two years later, Eamonn detailed his battle with shingles and how he was struck with the virus on his son Declan’s wedding day.

During an appearance on Loose Women in September 2021, he spoke about his health battle which left him unable to work on This Morning three years ago.

He also shared images of his puffy face covered in marks and scabs during his battle.

Shingles is a viral rash caused by varicella zoster virus, the virus which causes chickenpox, being reactivated. In the UK, 90 per cent of adults have had chickenpox, so will have this virus lying dormant in their nervous systems.

His years of chronic back pain started in spring 2021 – which came completely out of nowhere.

The pain become so severe that it left Eamonn reliant on a walking stick, but soon found out the root cause.

He eventually discovered it was three slipped discs that affected the movement of his right leg.

In September 2022, Eamonn was forced to step away from his GB news show as he underwent vital back surgery to aid his chronic back pain.

His battle with chronic back pain started after a dislocated pelvis led to three slipped discs.

Following his surgery, he revealed that despite physiotherapy, he continues to find his lack of mobility stops him from doing simple things and is forced to rely on others, which he described as ‘soul destroying’.

His spinal surgery left him with a weakened left leg, too, and just over two weeks into his recovery from the operation, Eamonn fell backwards down 18 stairs at the Weybridge home, hitting the stone floor at the bottom.

The horrific accident could easily have killed him. Instead, he emerged with a broken shoulder, and his legs further weakened.

The former This Morning host admitted at the time that fracturing his shoulder in a fall is a ‘massive setback’.

A year after his spinal surgery, Eamonn underwent a spine and neck stretching procedure in September 2023 after admitting he ‘couldn’t walk’.

Eamonn admitted he ‘hadn’t recovered’ from his back surgery, confessing: ‘I can’t run, I can’t walk, I can’t do anything except watch TV and eat.’

He explained: ‘I just got problems last year in my back, which I haven’t recovered from. It’s not good, it’s not a good recipe I have to say.’

Now, Eamonn is focusing on his recovery following years of different health woes and operations.

Head of their split estranged wife Ruth Langsford revealed she feared Eamonn ‘might never be 100 per cent right’.

He is having daily physio sessions and either uses a cane or wheelchair to get about, with the support of his wife Ruth.

The Loose Women presenter said she ‘lives in hope’ that his mobility will improve.

Speaking to Woman’s Weekly, Ruth said: ‘I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope.

‘He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right. With any care situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it isn’t always easy. It’s testing but we manage as a family.’

Ruth added: ‘I look at Eamonn, who’s had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is.’

Fred Sirieix Attacks Nigel Farage Before Getting Covered in Milkshake

Fred Sirieix has hit out at his I’m A Celebrity campmate Nigel Farage after the politician relaunched his career.

Fresh off the wave of placing third in the ITV reality show last year, the former UKIP leader, 60, has kickstarted his bid to become an MP.

But his election campaign didn’t quite go to plan as the new Reform leader was drenched by a woman while being mobbed by crowds in Clacton-on-Sea while leaving Wetherspoons.

Wading in on Nigel’s career bid, Fred, who also starred on last year’s series, wrote on X: ‘I spoke at length and extensively with Nigel Farage for 3 weeks while in the jungle. I wanted to make my own mind up about him and his views. Conclusion is simple.

‘He was very good at washing the dishes in the river but when it comes to politics he has no plan and no substance.

‘No vision. No concrete policies. He is not interested in making the UK / the world a better place. He just rants.’

Nigel and Fred famously clashed during their time in the jungle, with the hotelier once blasting the politician was ‘talking b******s’ as they cooked.

They also clashed during a heated debate about Brexit within days of entering the camp.

Politician Nigel was the leader of the UK Independence Party from 2006 to 2009 and 2010 to 2016, and leader of the Brexit Party from 2019 to 2021, with a referendum on Brexit being held in 2016.

A number of Fred’s followers waded in on the row.

One wrote: ‘Farage is very good at pointing out what he feels is wrong but is often found completely wanting when it comes to detailed, practical plans to address those same issues’.

While others said: ‘Enlighten us. He seems to have better ideas than Starmer who’s had years to perfect his flip flop policies.’

‘Perfect CV for a politician then, just as qualified as the 650 we’ve already got.’

‘Same as every other politician, then?’

On Tuesday, Nigel  was dramatically splattered with milkshake as he kicked off his bid to become an MP.

Essex Police said later that a 25-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of assault, along with a man who seemingly intervened while she was being detained.

The new Reform leader was flanked as usual by burly security as he left the local Wetherspoons pub, but they could do nothing as the woman flung the contents of a McDonald’s cup towards him.

It caught him full in the face, although he merely wiped his eyes and continued.

Home Secretary James Cleverly led condemnation of the attack, saying it was ‘unacceptable’ against any politician. Reform allies branded the assailant a ‘juvenile moron’ and said it would only boost their support.

But Nigel himself laughed the episode off, buying a round of milkshakes for photographers and posting a video saying: ‘My milkshake brings all the people to the rally.’

It came after the Brexit champion told a huge crowd of local voters the Tories had ‘betrayed’ their trust and warned Rishi Sunak would pay a ‘big price’ at the general election on 4 July.

Shouts from the crowd included ‘get ’em Nige’ and ‘we love you Nigel’ as huge numbers of Farage’s supporters gathered near Clacton pier.

Nigel’s campaign launch in the Essex seat came after he yesterday performed a stunning U-turn on his previous decision not to stand for Parliament.

The 60-year-old has made a dramatic return to the political frontline and also been installed as Reform UK leader in place of Richard Tice.

Nigel’s campaign in Clacton – a constituency once held by UKIP when he was the party’s leader – will be his eighth attempt to enter Westminster.

He will need to overturn a 31,000 Conservative majority from the last election with only minor boundary changes in the seat.

However, Tories have been sounding gloomy about their prospects and pollsters believe Nigel is in with a strong chance.

Grumbling has been surfacing about Rishi Sunak’s failure to head off the threat of Nigel  standing, with suggestions he should have been given a peerage before.

The developments have heaped more pressure on Rishi ahead of a head-to-head debate tonight where he is seen as having to land blows on Keir Starmer. More polls today have shown Labour on track for a massive landslide on July 4.

As he launched his campaign at the Moon and Starfish , Nigel  made reference to the town’s past support for UKIP when it elected Tory defector Douglas Carswell as the local MP.

He said: ‘Without Clacton, Brexit would not have happened – so thank you Clacton!’

Nigel vowed to be a ‘bloody nuisance’ in the House of Commons should he be elected in a month’s time.

Holly Candy (née Valance) is preparing to take her admiration for Donald Trump to the next level by throwing him a lavish fundraiser in the UK.

The former Neighbours actress, 41, is reportedly set to host an exclusive Trump election fundraiser in London on June 7, with tickets costing a whopping $100,000 per couple to attend.

According to The Sunday Times, Holly’s name on the hosting list will help to attract some of London’s most elite and wealthy conservative party supporters.

‘It’s a Holly party, so you can guarantee it’s going to be enormous fun,’ conservative British politician Nigel Farage told the publication.

It was Nigel who introduced Holly to her British property tycoon and Conservative Party donor husband Nick.

Back in March, Holly made headlines when she praised Trump as ‘fabulous’ and slammed her home country Australia as too ‘woke’ during an interview on the GB News’ Chopper’s Political Podcast in March.

Her younger sister Olympia, 31, has since publicly distanced herself from Holly’s politics.

Olympia told hosts Carly Portch and Allan Aldworth that Holly ‘rarely’ returns to Australia since she based herself in the UK.

‘My sister and I have very, very different political views,’ the Summit star insisted when she was asked about Holly’s controversial podcast interview.

The former soap star, who has recently rebranded herself as a conservative commentator, didn’t mince words as she revealed her thoughts on 21-year-old Swedish-born Greta.

Holly told podcast host Christopher Hope: ‘I don’t understand why you have this, like, demonic little gremlin high priestess of climatism as the goddess in classrooms, Greta,’ she said.

‘All the kids are all coming home with depression and anxiety. Why would you go to your music lesson or bother doing your homework or get out of your bed if you think we’re all going to be dead in five years anyway?’

‘The Australia I grew up in was unreal. It was so fun and we didn’t seem to have all these problems… the woke stuff’s really gone big in Australia,’ she said.

Holly elaborated on the ‘woke culture’, pointing toward ‘the stuff they’re teaching in school’: ‘I don’t think sexuality and children should be in the same sentence. I don’t think anyone’s sexuality is anyone’s business. You don’t know about mine. I don’t know about yours. Why would we?’

Exploring the rollercoaster romance of 70-year-old comedian Jim Davidson, preparing for his sixth trip down the aisle

Comedian and actor Jim Davidson has joked that he’ll ‘be like Henry VIII’ if he weds his new girlfriend Natasha, making her his sixth wife.

The star, 70, is said to be ‘completely besotted’ with his new lover, with a friend telling MailOnline that they ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if he popped the question soon.

In April, Jim was telling everyone that ‘he can’t wait to walk down the aisle with Natasha’ as they attended Nigel Farage’s 60th birthday party at Boisdale’s in Canary Wharf.

Jim’s love life has been as tumultuous as his career, having said ‘I do’ a whopping five times in the space of 40 years – he most recently finalised a divorce from his wife of 14 years, Michelle Cotton.

Here, MailOnline looks at Jim Davidson’s chaotic string of romances, as he considers tying the knot again.

    Sue Walpole

Jim’s first marriage was to childhood sweetheart Sue Walpole, who he tied the knot with back in 1971.

The pair had a daughter together in 1972 called Sarah Walpole-Davidson, who is now 51, before they divorced a year later.

He was just 17 years old when they walked down the aisle, following Sarah’s pregnancy at a young age.

Not much is known about the ex-couple’s short relationship and the reason why they split.

    Julie Gullick

The comedian, who hosted The Generation Game and Big Break in the 1990s, went on to marry Julie Gullick, who is the mother of his second child Cameron, now 40, in 1981.

Julie gave birth to Cameron Gullick-Davidson in December of 1982 and the couple divorced in 1986 after a five-year-long marriage.

He has since admitted that during their marriage he paid for an orgy with 12 call girls at a London hotel as part of a celebrity stag do.

Appearing on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories in 2018, the star made the shocking confession.

He admitted on the show: ‘He ordered all these girls and it was my money he was spending.

‘He thought it was a hoot and they all turned up at this boutique hotel in Kensington. I got a call from the hotel saying, “here are nine women downstairs waiting for you”.

‘They were in fishnets and whips. It was a great deal of fun and it did take 12 and a half hours. Three more turned up when we were asleep.’

Jim also revealed in his autobiography Close To The Edge, that he ‘chose not to see his son’ in the aftermath of the divorce to punish his ex-wife.

He penned: ‘I was going through so much hurt after the split I actually chose not to see him, to punish Julie.’

”B***er it,’ I thought. ‘Get rid of me and you lose your son’s father.’ This is something I do. I always cut my nose off to spite my face. ‘I haven’t got a child now,’ I thought. “I’ll see him later”.’

    Alison Holloway

Just one year after Jim divorced his second wife, he walked down the aisle with journalist and TV presenter Alison Holloway in 1987.

Their marriage lasted less than two years and ended acrimoniously amid claims of domestic violence.

In 2001, Alison told the Sunday People that her parents were ‘afraid of him because they had seen how he had bloodied and bruised my body… He is a wife beater and abuser of women and people ought to know that.’

Meanwhile, in his 1993 autobiography, Jim wrote: ‘We’re like a couple of boxers. On the first occasion, I poked her in the eye by accident. I actually went for the mouth […] The second time I gave her a shiner.

‘I threw a bunch of keys which whacked her in the eye. Just for a giggle she kept blackening it up to make it look worse.’

He later explained in a 2014 interview with The Telegraph: ‘I didn’t mean to do it. That’s why I admitted it, and now I’m accused of being a wife beater.’

He added: ‘We were married for three months. I met her at pantomime and we were divorced by the summer. It’s a relationship that both of us regret.’

Joanne Urch later alleged she had an affair with Jim while she was 16 and he was still married to Alison.

A trainee dancer at the time, she claimed she would accompany Davidson and his friends, including women she already knew from the dance community, on the comedian’s boat, Dishy Doo, which he kept moored in Torquay harbour.

At the time, she told The Mail On Sunday: ‘Jim really was the perfect gentleman – at all times. It wasn’t rushed. I never, ever felt he was lecherous, or intimidating or forceful.

‘I had been out with older men before and the age difference didn’t bother me.

‘I want it to be really clear that I was not a little girl being taken advantage of. I knew what I was doing and at no point did I feel intimidated or threatened by him. I don’t think there’s a bad bone in his body.

‘It wasn’t like I was picked up in a bar – he was a genuinely fun and friendly guy, it was a good crowd, and one lady was a dancing friend of mine anyway. We had fabulous days out in lovely weather. There was nothing seedy or untoward about any of it.’

Jim later told in his autobiography how he had been accused of having an affair with an underage girl and was forced to defend potentially harmful allegations that turned out to be completely false.

According to The Mirror, she ended their marriage after the TV comic admitted cheating on her with Debbie Corrigan after they met on The Generation Game.

She also appeared alongside him in his adult-themed pantomime Sin-derella.

Jim has previously admitted that his costly divorces have cost him around £60 million.

He was forced to declare himself bankrupt in 2006 after failing to keep up with the repayments on an unpaid tax bill.

    Michelle Cotton

Jim went on to marry Michelle Cotton in Semptember 2009 and they were together for 14 years, before announcing their split in April last year.

The pair met at a restaurant in Southamtpon and he gave her his phone number on the same day.

Speaking to The Telegraph in 2014, he said: ‘She kept me waiting four days before she called. But then she did and she makes me very happy.

    New girlfriend Natasha

Natasha is 23 years younger than Jim, but things seem to be going swimmingly after his most recent split.

The pair struck up a romance earlier this year after the comic’s split from Michelle.

Jim has said he has already sold the Georgian cottage in Stockbridge, Hampshire, that he and Michelle shared and is ready for a ‘new chapter.’

At Nigel Farage’s birthday party, he was telling everyone he can’t wait to walk down the aisle with her.

He said he is ‘completely smitten with 47-year-old Natasha and finally believes he has found ‘the one’, urging his pals to ‘tell her she should marry me’.

He also took to the stage at the party where he couldn’t stop gushing about his new love who works as a freelance assistant with him on his ustreme.com channel.

He said: ‘I’ve just got my divorce through and I’m here with my new girlfriend,’ joking about how many wives he has had and saying he has room for another.

Lizzie Cundy shared a rare photo of the happy couple on Instagram, alongside Michael Jackson’s former bodyguard Matt Fiddes.
