Nicole Richie bundled up in a long and luxe brown poncho for an outing with husband Joel Madden in brisk New York City this week.
The 42-year-old former reality television star and her beau, 44, were joined by their two children — daughter Harlow, 15, and son Sparrow, 14.
The petite fashion designer wore her sandy blonde locks in two low, long braids that flowed out from underneath a green beanie hat.
She elegantly wrapped a light brown scarf around her neck and donned a pair of classic black Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses.
Richie wore a pair of black slacks and black Adidas sneakers with white stripes.

Last month, Joel, who rose to fame with his band Good Charlotte, expressed how ‘lucky’ he feels to be married to his longtime wife.
The couple met at a mutual friend’s party in 2006.
After over a decade of marriage, the singer described his spouse as ‘beautiful’ and his ‘queen’ while appearing on the Tamron Hall Show.
As he reflected on their 17-year relationship, Madden said Richie is ‘the greatest partner.’
‘I feel lucky,’ the father-of-two raved, as he explained how to land a solid partnership.
‘I try to tell my kids to be yourself and to love yourself, ’cause it took me a long time to learn that,’ he opened up.
He continued: ‘You can put yourself out there in the wrong way too, so you have to love yourself first, and I think you have to put yourself out there in the right way.’
During a 2014 episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?, Richie shared that she and Madden ‘were partners from day one.’

Joel once shared this photo of his wife and daughter and said jokingly, ‘Who’s who anymore?’ as he referenced their striking resemblance

‘And from the second we found out we were going to be parents together, we looked at each other and we said, “Okay, both of our parents are divorced. We both have had ups and downs with our parents and we don’t really have a strong example of what a healthy family life is,”’ she said, adding, ‘”But, we’re recognizing that now, so let’s work at it and let’s go through this together as a team.”‘
On The Drew Barrymore Show last month, Joel credited their lasting relationship, in part, to couples therapy.
‘We go to therapy,’ he said with a smile, after host Drew complimented the pair for ‘working on themselves.’
He continued: ‘I don’t think we pretend to be perfect either… I think we’re all human.’
