Nicolas Cage’s son, Weston Coppola Cage, is speaking out for the first time following the sentencing of his felony assault case in which he allegedly attacked his mom, Christina Fulton.
Christina, the National Treasure actor’s ex, accused her son of attacking her in April 2024 at her home in Los Angeles. He was later charged with two felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon – something he previously pleaded not guilty to.
In April of this year, Weston, 34, was sentenced to a two-year mental health diversion program following a court hearing after a judge ruled that the incident was the product of a mental health crisis.
The Wolf singer spoke exclusively with the Daily Mail on August 15 at the Future of Film Association’s OPTIX Film Series in Las Vegas, sharing an update on how he’s ‘eliminated’ people in his life and getting on with his recovery.
‘You know, it’s strengthened me. I can only give radical forgiveness,’ he remarked.
‘I’ve definitely been a target for a lot of misconception my whole life, but I know that only happens to people that are intimidated by the calling of [it].’

When asked if there was anything he’d like to set the record straight on, he responded, ‘Oh I will quite a bit.’
He went on to reveal that he has a documentary in the works with the working title, ‘The Beast of God.’
‘I have a documentary in the works that’ll tell my childhood story and it’ll keep Xanax in business for sure for the people that watch it,’ he teased.
‘Right now, we’re trying to call it the Beast of God.’
He continued, explaining: ‘I’m going to do a combination of biopic reenactments and then also just some one on one interviews with me and kind of how I’ve always stayed up on the spiritual path and that’s the only thing that’s really ever worked for me.’
Weston revealed that he’s had ‘a lot of spiritual awakenings’ recently, especially since tying the knot with his wife, Jenifer Alexa Canter, in Beverly Hills on April 25. The romantic wedding was attended by his famous father, Nicolas.
The musician shared with the Daily Mail about how these past few months of newlywed bliss were going for him and the 33-year-old actress and model.
‘It’s been absolutely wonderful. Definitely some true alignment had to happen for me, you know, and a lot of spiritual awakenings and things like that.

As part of his ‘spiritual awakening,’ Weston (pictured with dad Nicolas) told the Daily Mail, ‘I just found that I was surrounded with a lot of people in my life that need to be eliminated’

‘And once that happens, it’s better than eliminating other things like bad habits, but it allows the universe to pour everything you’re meant for into it.’
Weston insisted that he and Jenifer stay strong as a couple and support each other by ‘consistently believing in one another.’
‘She’s the most profound artist I’ve ever met. I told myself I would never manage someone until I met an artist that I found was so complex and dynamic that I would.
‘So, I think she has a very bright future and you know I look forward to all the things that happen,’ he gushed.
In March, Weston announced his engagement to Jenifer nearly five months after going public with their romance on Instagram.
He called her his ‘first love, my only love and my last [love]’ at the time. The pair shared a long history together ever since they, literally, were born.
‘We were born in the same hospital, and I’ve loved her since I was a teenager. She is the love of my life, and I am committed to her forever,’ he previously stated.

Weston – who is the eldest child of Nicolas Cage – has been married three times in the past. Back in 2011, he tied the knot with first wife Nikki Williams but the two went their separate ways the next year.
In 2013, he said ‘I do’ to Danielle Cage but the pair divorced in 2016. The former couple also welcomed two children named Lucian and Sorin.
Weston then married Hila Cage Coppola in 2018 and the two share twins Venice and Cyress. Last year in July, their divorce was finalized.
On August 15, Weston stepped out at Sahara Las Vegas to attend the opening night celebration of Future of Film Association’s OPTIX Film Series, in which there was a red carpet for VIP guests and an advanced screening of Waltzing with Brando.
He joined stars of the film: Billy Zane, John Heder, George Psarras and Tia Carrere.
The Bill Fishman directed film, which premieres on September 19, tells the story of Marlon Brando (played by Zane) and his focus on ecotourism. He hires a Los Angeles architect (Heder) to build the world’s first ecologically perfect retreat on a small, uninhabited island in Tahiti – where the movie was filmed in real life.
Marlon Brando and Francis Ford Coppola, Weston’s great uncle, had enormous respect for each other and starred together in The Godfather and Apocalypse Now.

‘You know it’s not all disguised for him. He really changes his persona and stuff like that, so that he does is something I see as iconic and exemplary for any aspiring actors,’ Weston told the Daily Mail about his interest in the film.
It’s been over a year since Weston was arrested for the incident with his mother.
On April 2, his mother Christina, 58 – who dated Nicolas Cage from 1988 to 1990 – said during his sentencing hearing that she supported her son seeking rehabilitation rather than going to prison.
Recalling the incident, she said, ‘He shoved his thumb in my eye socket. The pain was excruciating. My vision went black. I was losing consciousness.’
Her life was ‘saved’ after one of Weston’s friends stopped by the apartment and pulled him off of her as he was ‘crushing’ and ‘suffocating’ her.
‘Now I stand here, pleading for one thing: that he gets the help he deserves. Please help my son,’ she told the court.
Weston’s lawyer told the court that Cage’s son had already been seeking mental health treatment and wanted to continue prioritizing it.
‘He hasn’t felt this good in years. He’s in a good head space, about to get married. He moved away from the location [he was] living in before and is definitely making progress,’ attorney Michael A. Goldstein said.
In addition to the mental health diversion program, Weston, per the judge, is ‘prohibited from harassing his alleged victims and possessing any weapons for the next two years.’
A dismissal of Weston’s charges is pending until the conclusion of the two-year diversionary period.
