Nicola Peltz Follows Victoria Beckham’s Lead in Ballet for Film

Nicola Peltz has revealed she is taking ballet lessons for a new project, following in her estranged mother-in-law’s dance footsteps. 

Brooklyn Beckham’s actress wife shared a series of snaps from a ballet studio to her Instagram page, as she perfected her plié under the guidance of dance teacher Katie Rose Cunin.

Dressed in a black leotard and white tutu, Nicola, 30, looked the part as she worked on her moves in a barre class.

The actress, whose last project was 2024 movie Lola which she wrote, directed and starred in, posted a crytpic caption, telling fans she has ‘been training for the past month with my ballerina angel girl @katierosecunin for something really special… i love learning.’

Brooklyn posted a gushing comment in reply, telling his wife she looked ‘absolutely beautiful xx.’

Brooklyn’s mum Victoria Beckham only recently gushed about her passion for dance in her Netflix documentary, which was released last week.

The Spice Girl explained how dance was her first love and sparked her passion for performing as she tried to escape childhood insecurities and bullying and isolation at school.

Sharing photos from her early dance performances and home videos, Victoria explained in the docuseries: ‘I used to enjoy the sense of escapism. You become someone else.’

‘I was definitely a loner at school, I was bullied, I wasn’t particularly sociable. I just didn’t fit in, at all. But when you’re on stage, for that moment you’re somebody else.

‘I didn’t really wanna be me, I didn’t like me. I desperately wanted to be liked.’

Victoria’s first love was dance, but she admitted in the documentary that she didn’t have a natural talent and her dad constantly encouraged her to work hard to stand out, particularly once she was accepted to theatre school – a venture he remortgaged the family home for.  

In one moving moment, Victoria explained how despite inheriting her dad’s work ethic, she knew she was never going to fit in or excell at her dance school. 

‘I didn’t look like a lot of the other girls. That’s where I started getting a lot of criticism about my appearance, my weight,’ she remembered. 

‘I remember the principal of the theatre school saying to me “at the end of the show, we’re gonna just fly you girls in at the back” meaning that we weren’t looking as aesthetically pleasing as some of the others.’

 

‘I remember phoning my mum crying “I wanna come home” and my mum said “come home, we’ll go and buy a new pair of shoes” but then my dad would come on the phone and he’d say “you stay there. You work hard”.’

Victoria is also seen trying to learn a TikTok dance with the help of her daughter Harper, 14, in the docuseries. 

After successfully recording it, as they watch it back Victoria quips: ‘Look she’s still got moves! Look at that! This is a good angle for me as well!’

Whilst Harper, and Victoria’s younger sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, all feature in the series, Brooklyn only features in childhood throwback footage and in one blink and you’ll miss it cameo with Nicola. 

In scenes filmed at Victoria’s September 2024 Paris Fashion Week show, the designer launches into an emotional monologue about her desire to make her family and colleagues proud.

The montage cuts between images of Victoria’s collaborators, with Brooklyn and Nicola seen mingling with guests in the background. 

The rest of Victoria’s family – husband David and kids Romeo Cruz and Harper  all get more screen time and are shown proudly sitting on the front row ready for the show. 

The 2024 Paris Fashion Show was the last of Victoria’s catwalks that Brooklyn and Nicola attended. 

They were missing from her latest Paris show last month.

It marks the second time this year that Brooklyn has missed one of his mother’s fashion shows, after also being absent from her Paris show in March, before tensions within the family became public.  

Brooklyn and his wife Nicola are at the heart of an acrimonious divide that has seen them notably absent from all significant family celebrations over recent months.  

The Beckhams are said to no longer be on speaking terms with Brooklyn and Nicola.

The drama continued as Brooklyn appeared to ignore his brother Romeo’s 23rd birthday, in yet another milestone snub – choosing instead to post about his LA life with Nicola.

He also failed to attend any of his father David’s 50th birthday celebrations in May.

 His family – including brothers Romeo, Cruz, and sister Harper – were not present to watch him renew his wedding vows with Nicola in New York’s Westchester County on August 2. 

The lack of Beckham presence at Brooklyn’s vow renewal was a clear sign Brooklyn and Nicola have washed their hands with his family – with many indications seemingly marking Brooklyn’s intentions to quit Brand Beckham for good. 

The Beckhams were said to be upset by the Peltzs during Brooklyn and Nicola’s first wedding in 2022, as they felt they were taking over the wedding. 

The two families have not reunited since and Nicola has rarely been pictured with the Beckhams. 

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Brooklyn was asked how he copes with all the talk about his family and his private life.

‘There’s always going to be people saying negative things, but I have a very supportive wife,’ he said. ‘Me and her, we just do our thing, we just keep our heads down and work. And we’re happy.’

Brooklyn said he ‘never’ worries about what people say or write about his personal life.

‘Everyone is always going to say rubbish. I just try and do this, play some golf with some friends. It’s good fun,’ he said.
