Katie Thurston is getting candid about how her breast cancer battle has impacted her marriage to comedian Jeff Arcuri—especially when it comes to intimacy.
‘Maybe short term just due to all the medical things I was going through,’ the 34-year-old wrote in an Instagram Story on Saturday, after a fan asked if intimacy had changed since her diagnosis in February.
‘It’s been a painful month for my body,’ she continued. ‘But as all the dust settles and my body recovers, things will go back to normal.’
Katie, who tied the knot with Jeff in March, has been navigating a whirlwind of emotional and physical challenges—and the past few weeks have brought an unexpected twist in her treatment journey.
‘Imagine you are 24 hours away from starting your first chemotherapy treatment, you have a port installed, you have a chemo bag ready to go, and then you get a call from your doctor that says, “Hold on,”‘ she shared in a video update, detailing how her treatment plan changed overnight.
Originally diagnosed with stage 3 triple-positive breast cancer, Katie sought a second opinion—only to learn she was actually facing stage 4 cancer, and possibly not triple-positive at all.

In a recent post, she revealed to her 779,000 followers that she is now ‘confirmed HER2 negative,’ a detail that significantly shifts her treatment path and prognosis.
Through it all, Katie’s been open about both the medical rollercoaster and the toll it’s taken on her personal life—proving she’s not just battling cancer, but doing it with honesty, grit, and heart
Just last month, the former Bachelorette opened up about how her perspective on motherhood shifted after falling for the stand-up comedian.
‘One day you think you don’t want kids,’ she wrote. ‘Then one day you meet the man of your dreams and would do anything to make sure we can start a family in the future.’
That dream has her deep in the trenches of fertility treatments, which she’s been candidly documenting.
In a post on her ‘Boobie Broadcast’ channel, Katie detailed her regimen: ‘For those who aren’t familiar with fertility treatment, here is a typical schedule: 3 pills a day to keep my estrogen down. A shot in my stomach in the AM. Two shots in my stomach in the PM.’
She added, ‘I’m on my second week of this leading up to my egg retrieval. My emotions are crazy. My sleep/dreams are crazy. And I’m tired.’
Still, Katie remained thankful through the exhaustion: ‘I have the opportunity to do this all over again for another two weeks.’

Even so, reality set in as she admitted, ‘Part of me wants to let my body recover/prepare for whatever cancer treatments come my way in April.’
Katie was diagnosed on February 13 after discovering a painful lump in her breast—despite having no family history of cancer—and was originally set to begin the I-Spy breast cancer trial this week.
Meanwhile, life outside the hospital hasn’t slowed down either. Katie and Jeff, who connected through Instagram just a year ago, got engaged five months later and said “I do” in an intimate backyard ceremony in March, with only their parents in attendance.
Arcuri’s comedy tour is booked through October 23, meaning much of their first year of marriage will unfold in hotel rooms and green rooms across the country.
