Robert Irwin has revealed he laid down the law to producers before accepting his new role hosting I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here Australia.
Appearing on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday, the 20-year-old said he wanted to alter one of the show’s major gimmicks – the eating challenge.
‘The one thing that I was like ”mmm I got to change this”, was eating the African wildlife…I’m a conservationist at heart,’ he said.
‘They have changed it so we’re just doing the cow, and the chicken, and the fish, and the cockroach…but it’s cool cause we really get to bring this to a whole new level.’
At one point in the chat Kyle and Jackie O Show co-host, Kyle Sandilands teased the famed Wildlife Warrior.

‘You’ve ruined the show with your own personal opinions on life, is that right?,’ he joked.
Robert went on to reveal that Australia Zoo ‘does a lot of conservation work in Africa’ and thought that the new season was an opportunity to ‘celebrate’ the wildlife.
Co-host Julia Morris also appeared on the breakfast show and stood behind the fresh look of the show.
He said he did not want the contestants to ‘eat’ African wildlife in the new series
‘I think what Robert’s been doing is making people think ”do you need it or not?” like if you need it, tell me why you need the wildlife in places like that?,’ she said.
Elsewhere in the chat Robert managed to dodge a question about his recent breakup with ex Rorie Buckey.
The young star was discussing his new role before Kyle asked: ‘What happened with the girlfriend?’

‘That’s a really perfect segue mate. That was so smooth,’ Robert said.
‘Is everything alright? I know young love can be heartbreaking and this is natural and will happen many more times with young love,’ Kyle continued.
‘Yeah yeah,’ Robert simply said before Julia joked: ‘You could do what I’ve done and find a person that hates you and buy them a house.’
Robert then said: ‘Julia Morris you are a beautiful human being and I love you dearly.’

It comes after the conservationist and Rorie announced their shock split in a joint statement shared to Rorie’s Instagram Story last month.
The statement read: ‘We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future.
‘We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journeys on different paths.
‘We won’t be commenting further on this, and really appreciate your respect and privacy at this time.’
Meanwhile, Channel 10 will premiere the new season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia on Sunday, 24 March.
