 has unveiled the release date for the highly anticipated Heartstopper film - almost two years on from series three hitting the streaming platform.

Based on Alice Oseman's graphic novel, the premise follows teenage boys Nick and Charlie, who develop a romantic relationship.

The - with the third series launching in October 2024.

However, the story will conclude with finale film Heartstopper Forever, which was announced last year.

It will officially be landing on Netflix on July 17, while directed by Wash Westmoreland.

A synopsis for the film reads: 'Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them.

The show, which debuted on Netflix in April 2022, follows the romance between teenage boys Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke)

'Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. 

'Can first loves really last forever?'

Returning cast members include Kit Connor and Joe Locke, reprising their respective roles as Nick and Charlie.

Also appearing are William Gao (Tao Xu), Yasmin Finney (Elle Argent), Tobie Donovan (Isaac Henderson), Corinna Brown (Tara Jones) and Kizzy Edgell (Darcy Olsson).

Rounding out the ensemble are Jenny Walser (Tori Spring), Rhea Norwood (Imogen Heaney) and Leila Khan (Sahar Zahid).

Meanwhile, Motherland and Ludwig star Anna Maxwell Martin replaces Olivia Colman as Nick's mother Sarah.

Elsewhere, Heartstopper fans when Netflix launched series three back in October 2024.

The plotline followed the relationship between Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) as it reached the next level.

Although the focus on Charlie's worsening eating disorder and Nick's attempts to left a lasting impact on fans, with some saying they 'spent the whole day sobbing' after watching.

One line in particular left fans distraught - when Nick's auntie gave him advice on how to approach Charlie about his eating disorder and care for him.

Series three launched on Netflix back in October 2024 - but that wasn't the end of Heartstopper's story

'Love can't cure mental illness,' she said, before adding: 'Sometimes people more support than one person can give.'

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, after watching the series, fans said: 'Just finished #Heartstopper season 3 and safe to say it hit me deep in my soul. i will be in bed for the rest of the day probably sobbing,';
