Neighbours star Troy Beckwith’s death at age 48 followed a ‘tough battle’ with cancer.
The Melbourne-based actor’s death was announced on social media on Wednesday by his sister Juanita Sanger.
‘Troy we will always remember that most mischievous, contagious laugh. Everyone loved you,’ she wrote.
‘Boy did we have fun growing up. A free spirit that couldn’t be held down. And the stories…we could write a book!’
‘I know Mum will be so happy to be reunited with her boy. Peace at last.’
At the end of the post, Ms Sanger wrote ‘#cancersux’.
News of Beckwith’s death made headlines over the weekend after his friends and former Neighbours co-stars shared the sad news on social media.

One friend, Selina Bonica, wrote on Saturday: ‘On the 24th of January, we lost a star and the heavens gained one. Troy, you were a pain in my ass, but I loved you dearly.’
‘I’m just glad you’re free from pain.
‘Love forever, your Sel x.’
On Monday, one of the actor’s relatives, Shane Beckwith, addressed rumours about Beckwith’s cause of death.
‘The family would like everyone to know that Troy fought a tough battle with cancer,’ he said.
His former Neighbours co-star Kym Valentine, who starred as Libby Kennedy on the soap, wrote: ‘It pains me so much to have to say this. Our dear old friend Troy Beckwith has passed away.’
‘Another member of our TV family gone way too soon. There will be no funeral as per Troy’s request.

‘Thanks for all the memories my cheeky mate and all my love to your friends and family.’
Actor Brett Blewitt, who played Brett Stark, described Beckwith as a ‘lovely person’.
‘He was such a lovely person. Deeply thoughtful and empathetic. Cheeky and playful once out of his shell. Way too soon. Love you mate,’ he wrote.
Neighbours actress Lucinda Cowden commented with broken heart emojis.
Ricky Fleming, who starred alongside Troy on children’s series Pugwall in the late 1980s, also paid tribute to the actor in an Instagram post.
‘RIP to my brother from another mother. From birth we were trouble together and joined at the soul, no one will ever know the adventures and joy we had as the mischievous two (tricky and roy) in this life,’ he wrote.
‘I can honestly say there was never a dull moment when we were together. May you be in peace and still be the infectious joy of those who are in your presence now. Troy Beckwith love you buddy’.

Beckwith played Michael Martin between 1991 and 1998 on Neighbours, before going on to small roles in Blue Heelers and State Coroner.
He was known as one of Neighbours’ most iconic villains with his character branded as ‘Sicko Micko’.
The actor was also known for his role as Jeremy ‘Bazza’ Bazlington on popular children’s series Pugwall between 1989 and 1991.
Beckwith mysteriously disappeared from his Cranbourne home on May 31, 2017.
Police reports at the time said he was home in the early hours of the morning, but had disappeared by the time she got home at 11am.
He had his phone but was not answering calls.
His family was concerned because he had a ‘medical condition’.
The last time his partner heard from him was when he called to say he had cancelled an appointment.
About two weeks later, on June 17, Victoria Police announced Beckwith had been located ‘safe and well’.
The reason for his disappearance was never revealed.
As per the actor’s request, there will not be a funeral.
