Jacinta Stapleton has finally spoken out about Neighbours facing the axe yet again -just two years after its dramatic revival.
The 45-year-old actress, who plays Amy Greenwood in the beloved Aussie soap, revealed she felt ‘free’ and ‘in charge of her life’ despite the latest setback for the long-running drama.
Jacinta didn’t shy away from addressing the elephant in the room, reflecting on the uncertain future of Neighbours and her evolving career.
‘I feel free and in charge of my life,’ she told Daily Mail Australia. ‘And I’m really looking forward to my future.’
While many fans have been left devastated by the show’s cancellation, Jacinta is channelling her energy into new projects – including an ambitious sci-fi script she’s been developing for years.
‘I’ve written a script which I’m super proud of. I wrote it a while ago, but now it’s got legs,’ she revealed.

‘It’s an important story that needs to be told – not just for women, but for the world, the universe, everything.’
Although the actress remained tight-lipped on the details, she hinted at a dark femme-based fantasy with twelve main characters and twenty-six species – a stark contrast to the suburban drama of Ramsay Street.
‘It’s a sci-fi that will enlighten people about what we’re doing to the Earth and how humans are affecting it,’ she explained.
‘It’s one of the biggest fantasy projects I’ve ever worked on.’
Jacinta co-wrote the script with a woman from Texas she met in Los Angeles, and she’s now surrounded by a team of producers and filmmakers who are just as passionate about bringing the project to life.
Beyond her writing ventures, Jacinta has a packed schedule, including a major appearance at Bare Minimum, an Australian TV forum in Birmingham this July.
‘I’m on a panel of people – yes, of course, it’s about Neighbours’ she joked.
‘They love their Neighbours! But I can’t say too much… I don’t want to get sued!’

Despite her deep connection to Australian television, Stapleton admits she has always felt more love from British audiences than from her home country.
‘I feel like we don’t talk about it enough, but why do Australians not support their own talent the way the UK does?’ she mused.
‘I love British TV. It’s the funniest, the smartest.
‘That’s ultimately where I want to work.’
Although proud of her Australian TV roots, she believes the industry lacks commitment to the arts, forcing many actors to seek opportunities overseas.
‘There needs to be more commitment to the arts in this country’ she stated.
‘There needs to be more acceptance. That’s why we all leave. There’s just more opportunity elsewhere.’
With Neighbours now facing an uncertain future, it seems Stapleton is ready to embrace change.
Whether that means Hollywood, London, or another out-of-this-world adventure with her upcoming sci-fi project.
